17.01.2022 My next four-week African drumming course at Ananda in Belgrave starts next Saturday. We will be learning a beautiful Malian rhythm called Sunu, that was composed to honour the grace and beauty of a young woman of the same name. Beginners classes are 2-3.30pm, followed by intermediate/advanced at 3.45-5.30pm. Intermediate students are welcome to support both classes for the same contribution as one. 14.01.2022 Our February/March four-week djembe course started up last week in Belgrave, with a deep groove from the heart of Mali, West Africa. 09.01.2022 Our February/March four-week course starts soon at Ananda in Belgrave! Save the dates for our next deep dive into West-African djembe playing. You will learn fundamental djembe technique and principles of ensemble playing as we study the ancient and sacred music of Malian and Burkinabe culture. Beginners class is 2-3.30pm, and intermediate class is 3.45-5.30pm each Saturday, all drums supplied for those without. Intermediate students are encouraged to attend both classes.
