22.01.2022 We were lucky enough to celebrate Australia Day on the foreshore at Maaroom today. We are a group of neighbours and friends who regularly get together and socialise. What happened today is so Australian - or it should be. We are of diverse nationality, we don't always agree on everything, but we love everything Australia represents - the chance to live freely, openly, and without restriction. You can be yourself, be alternate, be just plain different. All we ask is that you a...ppreciate the dirt under your feet for a reason, and the reason is that you are free to be who you are and, hopefully, that is the way it will always be. We all bring something to the table and that is something we should always remember - so many of our people have been forced to leave so many precious memories behind - that they enrich us with the gift of themselves is the only thing we want. 19.01.2022 I posted yesterday about Pete and Christine's wonderful wedding at the Noosa Botanical Gardens, and how we are always at the mercy of Mother Nature. An outdoor wedding is always an adventure, especially when it comes to logistics. Many a Celebrant has built up an impressive array of muscles lugging equipment from a far, far away car park to a spectacular ceremony site, usually only accessible by the ups and downs of many stairs. He or she would have set out smartly dressed an...d, in the case of our female colleagues (could be our male compatriots as well - I don't judge), made up and, depending on the prevailing weather conditions, with varying degrees of product in our hair. As yesterday was very windy I erred on the side of caution and had about 2kg of stiffener and spray holding my 'do' in place. Bring it on, I thought, as a mini gale blew threw the amphitheatre.....don't ever say that to Mother Nature as she has quite a few tricks up her sleeve. Five minutes to go, everything going to plan, then a dramatic deluge. Guests scrambled, brollies popped up, our Bride and Groom were hastily covered and yours truly viewed the world myopically through her water covered specs. Our pristine 'do' now plastered to our scalp, water well and truly running into many apertures, fighting the urge to abandon the ceremony and throw ourself over the precious Marriage documents rapidly becoming saturated on the Signing Table, we soldiered on to completion, emerging through a sudden burst of sunlight like some mythical creature, clothes gently steaming, our face a reminder that there is no truth in the advertisement of 'smudge' proof cosmetics. A Celebrant is a resilient creature. Like early day explorers we shun the very idea of being indoors - who wants to conduct a ceremony where there is no chance of being swept away, blown away, and slowly boiled? Why would we want air conditioned comfort when we can get a tan without having to use a spray? Oh no, we want the sand between our toes, cow pats to jump over, the ever present excitement that there may be a snake lurking in the undergrowth, triumphing over the rising chorus of mini attendants having hissy fits, feeding on all the drama, the humour, the sentiment, the emotion of a day which is unique to every couple, because it is a profession which offers every one of us the chance to participate in something incredibly private and profound. To be given the honour of joining two people in love is the kind of privilege we never take for granted. Celebrants everywhere, we salute you!

17.01.2022 Our small, seaside community is alive today with hundreds of butterflies fluttering a beautiful path towards their destiny. It reminded me that any creature's life is ephemeral and that is why we need to seize the moment....so, my friends, tell your significant other that you love them, be sure your children know, bone deep, that you are always there for them, nuzzle your grandbabies while you can, take that trip you've always talked about but keep putting off 'until I retire...', get a rescue animal and let it rescue you from loneliness and boredom, be the stranger who smiles and says 'hello', do random acts of kindness, and never, ever forget that your words and actions can make all the difference in someone's life. Being a Celebrant is having a chance to be a part of life's pivotal moments - you are a conduit for so many emotions and you have the privilege of being the voice which emotes them. If you are in love and committed, but shy about taking the next step, do it. If your love has introduced a beautiful new soul to join our community, celebrate it. If your life has taken an unexpected path and turned into a magical journey, shout about it. Don't ever forget that there are many who would walk with you, if you only gave them the chance. See more

14.01.2022 There's no words for for joy you brought to our ceremony. It was easy with you from the moment we met you Linda. Thank you for the amazing words and the humour, warmth and happiness on our day. Lots of love, the Jansen's

11.01.2022 Friday, December 2nd - hot, sunny and breezy. The location, an idyllic slice of one of our favourite coastlines - Rainbow Beach. The occasion a memorable one as we gathered, sand between our toes, the ocean glinting behind us as we stood in the shade in front of Mudlo Rocks to share in Damon and Cherie's joy as they pledged themselves to each other with words of love and commitment. Most emotional moment? When 3 beautiful children were invited to join our Bride and Groom in a... shell circle before they all completed a unique piece of familial art in a Sand Ceremony. Laughter, a few tears, (what would a Wedding be without them!), happy faces and a whole lot of love. A beautiful, balmy afternoon to mark another real life love story. Thank you, Damon and Cherie, for trusting Soul Essence to tell that story in the way you wanted it to be told, and for being such a lovely addition to the Soul Essence album. See more

04.01.2022 It's just a few days out from Christmas and Soul Essence would like to extend Season's Greetings to all the Facebook friends we have made over the years. In particular, we wish nothing but blessings for those couples and families who have shared their stories and lives with us this year. We have just heard about a new arrival for a wonderful couple we had the pleasure of joining in Marriage this year, and it makes us realize how special it can be when you connect with people in the course of your profession. Sharing memories and stories links us, however briefly, and allows us to share laughter and tears, moments from the past which we have never forgotten, hopes for the future which shine as beautifully as the star on top of our Christmas tree. Soul Essence wishes you all a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
