Symptoms often develop slowly, and you could have them for years and not really notice. It is worth familiarising yourself with the symptoms, and speaking to your Doctor as soon as you notice them. 15.01.2022 October is already looking very pink, welcome to Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in women in Australia according to the Cancer Council (aside from non-melanoma skin cancer), so this October we are encouraging all the lovely ladies, and friends and family of lovely ladies, to remind each other to get screened. From the age of 40 (though you only receive an invite from the age of 50), mammogram screening is free through the BreastScreen Australia Program. Early detection could save your life, so make sure you get screened regularly! For more information, you can visit: https://www.cancer.org.au/cancer-information//breast-cancer

13.01.2022 Most people welcome the warmer weather and SPRING! There are many reasons to love the new season but for many however this marks the beginning of the hay fever season. 08.01.2022 Even if you usually do not suffer from asthma or allergies, thunderstorm asthma is something you should know about. Thunderstorm asthma is triggered by a combination of grass pollen in the air and certain thunderstorm conditions. It can occur when pollen grains are drawn up into the clouds as a thunderstorm forms. The pollen grains absorb water, swell and burst open. Particles containing pollen allergens are released and are so small that they can be breathed into the lungs. The weather conditions can push these tiny particles down to ground level then along the ground in the winds that come ahead of the rain. Those who do suffer from asthma and hay fever are more at risk from serious complications due to thunderstorm asthma, so if this is you, come in and see our Pharmacist to make sure you have a plan ready.

07.01.2022 Don't forget your sunscreen! You might be thinking, it's not hot enough for that yet is it? Remember that sunburn is not about heat, but UV rays. Here in Australia, the UV is a lot stronger than in other places around the world, and you can even get burnt on cloudy days. If you are going outside, even in your own yard, check the UV rating on the weather websites and protect your skin appropriately. If you are not sure where your sunscreen is, or which kind of sunscreen will be best for you and your family, come in and have a chat with our team today!

03.01.2022 Have you got a snake bite kit? Australia is home to many different species of snake, and while the best way to handle one is to go nowhere near it, sometimes the unexpected can happen. Having a snake bite kit with you if you are out in the bush, or in your car or home, can help you be prepared. Our team can help you put one of these together. A basic snake bite kit will usually contain: - 2-3 large heavy crepe bandages - Antiseptic cream - A thermal blanket... - A marker pen - A snake/spider bite guide Knowing what to do in the event of a snake bite could one day save your life or the life of someone you love. To learn about what to do if someone is bitten by a snake, you can check out this page written by the Queensland government: https://www.health.qld.gov.au//what-to-do-if-you-get-bitte

03.01.2022 When it comes to the dates on your foods, do you know the difference between Best Before and Use By? If you have a product that is "best before" a certain date, it is still okay to eat for a while after this date, but it may have lost a bit of quality by this point. If your product has "use by" on it though, these foods are a little bit more serious. if sold and consumed after this date, they could pose a health and safety risk to the person consuming them, so it is best to f...ollow the label and dispose of these if they pass this date. Some products may have a "use by" date that is well into the future when you buy it, but keep an eye on "once opened" warnings too. Some of these products stay well preserved in their packaging, but once they are opened may only last a few days or weeks. Remember, foodborne illness can be serious, so if you are not sure about a food, trust your gut and dispose of it safely! See more
