21.01.2022 We had 4 teams competing at Rob Fortes Victorian Team Cup at the Australian Fitness & Health Expo this weekend. All 4 teams put in a massive effort across the 4 events. Our Soul Sisters doing amazing and finishing in 2nd place overall, never finishing outside the top 4 and winning the last event. Well done girls. Our other girls team Team SR Thorns finished T17th. In a very experienced field that was a great finish. And a massive well done to Kadri in her first competiti...on as well. Our boys teams faired well also Soul Rebel Alliance finished 9th, one of our best placing in a competition from the Thornbury gym. They showed they can move a barbell really well finishing 6th & 3rd in a couple of events. Big shout out to Scott getting a PR of 110kg squat clean not only once but 6 times! CF SoulRebel Greensborough also gained a tonne of experience finishing strong in 18th and were very consistent all weekend. Great to see them hold their own against some top athletes in their heat. Coach Laura also competed finishing 6th with her team, and was great to see her in action for the first time as a Soul Rebel Coach. Got to say thanks to all those that. Came down to support the teams over the weekend, your cheers and shouts were muchly appreciated by all out on the floor. Also a massive thanks again to Rob Forte and his team, you guys always put on a great event and they only get better each time. To run as well as it did at the Fitness Expo, in front of the whole fitness industry was no mean feat. Great job guys. Well done Rebels

18.01.2022 Part 2: The Truth About Fats This week we are talking about fats the different types, why we need them and how you can add the right ones into your diet. There has been a lot of controversy around dietary fats and they certainly have been demonized over the last thirty or forty years. Many people are fearful of fat, and Im not surprised, given that it has been jammed into us to eat a low-fat diet, (particularly saturated fat), and eat more healthy whole grains (breads an...d cereals). But instead of improving the rates of lifestyle-related diseases, the rates of illnesses like obesity and heart disease have skyrocketed. Clearly we have been getting it wrong! It turns out, fat isnt our foe after all, but our friend. The health benefits of including natural fats into your diet are not only extremely positive, but absolutely essential.

09.01.2022 = Welcome to Soul Rebels Freestyle Movement, Strength and Tumbling classes. = After having huge success running Freestyle Gymnastics Courses we have decided to roll out a schedule of set class times that will run weekly through the course of the year. Start from 1st February. This will benefit students by having a more consistent class schedule to follow and contact with our coaches. ... What do each of the classes entail? Freestyle Movement is a gymnastics basics based class. While the majority of our students are middle aged and dont have a gymnastics background this class caters perfectly for those new and transitioning to our Freestyle classes. There is a big emphasis on flexibility and mobility as well as trunk strength hand progressions for Handstand, Planche, Manna, Pistol and variations. As with all our classes there is some freestyle flair incorporated to keep thing fresh and creative! Freestyle Strength focuses on a lot of the same as Freestyle Movement but also incorporates Rings, Bar and Ropes. You can expect to work on a variety of progressions for Handstand, Planche, Manna, Hollow Back, Muscle Up, Front Lever, Back Lever and Side Lever. Flexibility and Mobility is incorporated but less emphasis than Freestyle Movement. Again as always a Freestyle flair is added and students are given the opportunity to express creativity and play with breakdancing power moves, circus tricks and various balances including partner balance! Freestyle Tumbling is basically a combination of traditional gymnastics tumbling and blends elements of Free Running and Parkour . You will work on the basics from forward and backward rolls to cartwheels, back saults and front flips and more! Creativity rules and this class is bunch of fun! We strongly advise to complete at least 6 weeks of Freestyle Movement or Strength before starting Tumbling unless you have a background of experience in similar based practice! Class Fees 1 Classes Per Week $20 2 Classes Per Week $35 3 Classes Per Week $45 *An initial 6 week commitment is required when a new student begins classes. After the initial 6 weeks you can go on hold or stop at anytime. No joining fees!
