24.01.2022 We had over two hundred people join our simultaneous fundraiser movie screenings of Military Wives across two cities. Songs were sung, tears were shed and a great afternoon was had by all! Thank you to all who came along and well done to all who performed!

23.01.2022 We had a fabulous rehearsal in Cairns last night. Although this photo suggests that I might have been having more fun than the singers!! I couldn’t decide what songs to start the year with so I decided to give them a taster of the 6 songs we will work on this year. We got through 6 songs, 95 bars, with 95 singers as well as pulling out old song to finish the night with as a tribute to one of our long time members who recently passed away. Bring on Thursday in Brisbane now! Hold on to your hats!!!

22.01.2022 It’s funny how our ‘new’ format feels almost like normal now. Nothing will ever replace the actual act of signing with others but the community we’re building at The Viral Choir is coming close. There is So much feeling in our latest song.

21.01.2022 We're still not singing together in person but we're not going to let that stop us either! So.....we're producing a Christmas Album!! Why don't you come and sing on it with us????

21.01.2022 IT'S NEW SONG TIME!! This week our three groups will be finishing off You Learn (Alanis Morrisette), The Bones (Maren Morris) and starting on the Motown classic, Tracks of My Tears. Check out this Linda Ronstadt's version (where, for the record, we think that she looks like she's about 14!!).

20.01.2022 I know that I’ve definitely been here. (And made it worse by turning one of my hobbies into work too!) But the best thing about this group singing hobby thing is that we have science behind us to prove that the benefits of making the time to do it are far reaching. Singing changes your mental and physical state to such a degree that you can then return to your deadlines and obligations fortified against the stress triggers. So singing is essentially like a super hero cloak. (Ok so I may have made up the cloak bit, but the rest is true!)

20.01.2022 FINALLY! It's time to sing together!! While The Viral Choir has been super busy with online stuff since March, our two Soul Song choirs have not sung together in person for over 6 months. But we are really excited to announce that it's happening!!! On Sun 11 October in Brisbane and Sun 18 October in Cairns, we will be getting together for an afternoon of singing!! Everyone is welcome. (We aren't making the details public at this stage, inline with our COVID plan)

20.01.2022 Choir three now back up and running with our first official hybrid rehearsal. 50 odd people in the room, joined by 20 or so on Zoom from all over Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. As we had to wear masks in Brisbane, our singers at home decided to show their solidarity too. In the first photos, I asked everyone to smile and then told them I wanted a serious one but with masks on, both photos looked the same So just went big instead!

19.01.2022 Time for another song reveal for 2021. That's right it's time to SHINE!

19.01.2022 Our Brisbane crew will be part of this free, mass sing event as part of the World Science Festival. We will mark Earth Hour with performances by 250 singers of a number of environmentally themed songs. Come and check it out!

18.01.2022 We are 6 months old today! 6 months, 52 rehearsals, 20 virtual choir videos, 2 virtual concerts and weekly online challenges and Zoom socials - we've worked hard and played hard and have become an amazing international community of singers. 17.01.2022 Our Soul Song members are called Soulsters. But now we also have the Corooners - the fabulous singers in our The Viral Choir. Here's a bunch of them singing our first in the first of our weekly virtual choir videos.

16.01.2022 Happy World Singing Day!!! We celebrated by having our first in person rehearsal in Cairns seven months. We came, we sang, we cried. (Well I did anyway). We have grieved for the loss of hearing live voices together over many months so it was very special to be able to come together like this as well as last week in Brisbane with the Brisbane tribe. Rehearsals feel very different now but I don’t think we are ever going to take them for granted again.

15.01.2022 Our latest initiative to build community through song is definitely making an impact! We tested the Viral Choir technology last night at rehearsal in Cairns with me teaching the choir an alternate version of Bohemian Rhapsody for a bit of fun! Phase two of testing comes on Thursday with the Brisbane rehearsal and then the Viral Choir should be able to go live at the start of next week.

Well done to all those who made it to what was apparently a rip cracker of a rehearsal and then had to get home through one of the heaviest local falls on record. Stay safe on the roads for the next few days!

08.01.2022 How many umbrellas does it take to get a rehearsal happening in Brisbane this week?? A lot!! Collective term for a group of umbrellas anyone? (And just as a reference, the Flamingo brolly is mine and was a gift from the Cairns choir because I love flamingo )

06.01.2022 This week it's Brisbane's turn to take their boats to rehearsal! Travel safely on the roads today and maybe allow some extra time to get to rehearsal and get parked tonight - there are some roads already closed due to flooding.

04.01.2022 Tonight's a night of firsts! The first Soul Song masked rehearsal! The first Brisbane rehearsal for 2021 and the first rehearsal for many of the visitors who are coming along to check us out for free! But don't worry, if you missed the news that Brisbane's most exciting pop choir* is back rehearsing tonight or if you don't fancy your first time being in a mask (!) then you're welcome to come along anytime. 02.01.2022 Well we’re off and running again! Both choirs launched with 190 voices singing together across the two groups! It’s our 10th anniversary this year so we’re in for a big one!

01.01.2022 WE'RE 10!!! We've come a long way in 10 years! From our first rehearsal with 16 singers in a church in Cairns to now three choirs with a global membership of over 200 people! We had a surreal but amazing virtual celebration last night where we sang, danced, laughed, showed off our cats, ate cake and, as was probably inevitable, cried. It's not an exaggeration to say that we've been in mourning since March, which was the last time we sang together in person. Although we h...ave kept singing and growing and having amazing experiences through our newest group, The Viral Choir, we have been desperately missing the chance to stand shoulder to shoulder and sing; to hear each others voices and to give audiences the opportunity to feel the very vibrations that come as much from our hearts as from our voices. So this was an emotional anniversary for sure but it reminded us all once again that We Are Family and no pandemic can keep us from singing. Watch this space for some upcoming news on how and when we might be able to sing together in Cairns and Brisbane soon.
