25.01.2022 My throat tightens from the smoke of fires I cannot see. There ain’t no out of sight, out of mindness here. Every breath is a reminder... Lives lost, communiti...es devastated, homes devoured, animals and land scorched, apocalyptic scenes, friends waiting for the call to evacuate. I feel this...deeply. I pray that my tears might invoke the rain. Thank you to the fire fighters and all those who have put themselves at risk to help others Prayer and song is a way we can connect to what is happening, to offer our support by way of FEELING those most affected, to tap into our own grief and intensity and to revel in the rain...for it will come. Tomorrow’s Sound It Out Song Circle is an invocation. Together, we will invoke the rain to quench the earth and satisfy the fires. If you feel drawn to connect in this way, we will gather in the park, just as we do every Tuesday morning 10.15am - 11.30am. Alex Griffiths Park Cooinda Ave Currumbin Exchange is $20 but if you’ve not got it, and you wish to be a part of this prayer, please join us

20.01.2022 Last Tuesday Sound It Out Song Circle celebrated its first birthday. And within the song circle, we celebrated another 3 birthdays, one of which was an 80th (it...’s never too late to get amongst it and sing!). For me, singing is a meditation. It’s freedom, expression, passion and play...and so much more. I started the song circle because I wanted to create a container where others could feel safe to explore their voice, to experiment, to play without the fear of ‘getting it wrong’. What I’ve come to realise is that I needed that explorative space just as much as everyone else. The more I scratch beneath the surface, the more I find. The more I come to love my voice, the more I relax. The more I open, the easier it is to let it flow. So much of it is about relaxing. So, if you’re keen to let loose a little, stomp your bare feet on the earth and celebrate the ups and downs of life, tomorrow morning is your chance (and every Tuesday) 10.15am - 11.30am Cooinda Ave, Currumbin Exchange: $20 (if you don’t have it to give, offer what you can. It can even be a hug)

18.01.2022 If you’re needing a little moment of calm... Looking forward to singing this with Kate Leopold and Neil Macleod next Saturday at Soul Song Night w/ Jules & Kate... (& Treats!) Early Bird ends at midnight tonight. Tickets here; https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=571048&

15.01.2022 Having grown as a facilitator with the Sound It Out Song Circle for a year now, and having a couple of years under my belt, working one on one with people to ex...plore their voices, my desire to expand and grow in new areas has my creative juices on high heat!!! Sooooo I have some exciting voice journeys brewing...a weekend voice retreat being one of them (more to come on that). Also, lots of you have expressed interest in attending the song circle but weekday mornings don’t suit. Who would be keen for a weekend song circle? The song circle can also come to you and is a great add-on for an event, party, workshop or team building exercise. It can be light and playful and it can be deep and wild...whatever experience you’re curating, this may be a way to compliment it. Drop me a line if you want some voice play We sang this song last week, calling for the winds to calm and the rain to return. I had a short but sweet moment dancing in the rain last night. Hopefully there was downpour where it was most needed.

13.01.2022 A wee heads up...tomorrow’s song circle won’t be going ahead. Twil be back to normal next Tuesday 10.15am - 11.30am Alex Griffiths Park Cooinda Ave Currumbin. Sing your beautiful heart out in the meantime

11.01.2022 This is a testimonial from one of the ladies that came along to the Sound It Out Song Circle last week. I’m defo starting to see the value in community singing... together. The rain ain’t no excuse as we’ve got the coziness of the Tugun Girl Guides hut. A sister of mine, Dana, is hitting the road after hanging at my place for a few days and we are gonna send her off with song in her heart. Location; Tugun Girl Guide Hut Cooinda Avenue (It’s listed under Currumbin on maps) Time; 10.15am - 11.30am Exchange; $20 or $5 for participating kids If $$$ is a challenge and you need the uplift, come along anyway. Often times, just being in the space is enough to nurture the pants off yourself!

11.01.2022 Oh I LOVE this liminal point...the meeting of the old and the new. Today, I celebrate all that I have created, all that I am a part of, all that I have learned..., the peaks, the troughs, the love, the heartache, life, death and everything in between. Sound It Out Song Circle is what I’m most happy about. It’s been a lifeline for me, in many ways...a support network, a space free of judgement, playful at times, deep and potent at others. It’s a circle, representing the whole, inclusive of everything as neither good nor bad. Today we gather for the finale of 2019, and the decade. We sing in full celebration of what we have created together, let go of the past and welcome the magick of the unknown, where all possibility resides. Part of my vision for next year, is to set up more song circles...in more parks, making it accessible to as many people as possible. A healing, creative space for maximum uplift! We gather at 10.15am this morning at Alex Griffiths Park, Currumbin (Cooinda Ave). We kick off at 10.30am - 11.30am Exchange is $20 and $5 for participating kids. If $$$ is a challenge and you need the uplift, come along anyway and give what you can Thank you Melissa U'ren for capturing these precious moments xxx

04.01.2022 For so long I've been on the hunt for the right venue to host a Sunday open mic jam. grounded_in_miami is ticking all the boxes! Even better, I get to host it with my soul sister, Kate Leopold...an excuse for us to hang out, play music, poke the creative fire and jam with like-minds. What a way to wrap up the week! Sooooo, this coming Sunday 19 January, we launch (all details in link) And if it lashes rain...all the better...it'll be a celebration!... Thanks Zeus Stellas for this epic space and for your genuine interest in creating an accepting place for people to be seen and heard. Looking forward to seeing what we can co-create. Photo Credit: Thanks Rachel Heaney for capturing this moment at our Soul Song Night.
