23.01.2022 Hi all, Bit of a negative post today but one that is imperative for our families to know. The NDIS have proposed and all but received approval for changes in th...e way that you will demonstrate that your child has a disability that is impacting their lives. In their most recent proposal, the NDIS expect to send a person to your home for a 15-20 minute observation of your child as another hoop for you to jump through to receive funding supports. To make matters worse, you are unable to request the notes that are taken about your child in that time spent in the home/environment they observe your child, yet your funding package may well be determined around this observation. This is, in my opinion, disgusting and a significant breach of your rights, your child’s rights, the trust in the therapists that provide support to your family, who write letters to detail and outline the necessary supports (because WE know the sort of work it requires to meet goals and make changes is enormous), the whole idea that NDIS is founded around - in providing equal opportunity, access, rights and support for people with a disability. I am not sure if they’ve given you at all any communication about this - however your child as the participant deserves better than to be made to feel like they’re on show for the purpose of saving the NDIS a few dollars. Amongst all of the other stuff we are having to deal with this has been most frustrating to read about for my colleagues and I. If given any opportunity we must challenge this. Talk to your planners and discuss the utter ridiculousness of suggesting your child’s needs can possibly captured in 15 minutes of time. In how you won’t subject your child to scrutiny in front of a stranger, it’s potentially traumatising whoever the professional. In how you build rapport with people and professionals you trust for weeks, months, sometimes years before it’s achieved. In how you won’t make them perform to ensure you receive your fair share of funding. Mad is an understatement!! EDIT: have added the petition here if you wish to sign it!! http://chng.it/5pwNxrxXVM SECOND EDIT!!! They’ve reviewed it and it looks like it’ll be put to a stop!! Yay!! http://www.villamanta.org.au//aat-rejects-ndis-independe/

22.01.2022 Wishing you all a Very Happy Easter! Stay safe and enjoy!

18.01.2022 Over the past few years we have been running our Prep Transition groups in Term 4 to help children entering prep the following year feel more prepared. We usually work on their social, language and literacy skills in this program. Unfortunately, due to the current lockdown we will be unable to run this great program. Therefore, we have decided to create a step by step program for families to complete at home over the same duration of time. This pack will include all the activities we were planning on running with your children each session and a step-by-step guide on how to complete each activity. If you are interested in purchasing one of these programs please give us a call on the details listed in the flyer and we will create a pack for you.

16.01.2022 If your child loves LEGO this 30day challenge will keep them engaged over the holidays! You can also work on your child’s language and articulation skills using this challenge. Some ideas are: 1. Ask your child to describe what they are building using full sentences. 2. Ask your child to describe the pieces they need to build their creations. 3. Encourage your kids to use their imagination to create a story around what they are building. Feel free to ask us how else you can use this challenge to help your child target their speech and language goals! #lego #speechpathology

11.01.2022 This week it is Speech Pathology Week and the theme is communicating with confidence. We’ve asked some of our therapists and families what it means to communicate with confidence. Here are some of their thoughts:

11.01.2022 We’ve had a great week using telehealth to administer therapy to our clients! Thank you to our therapists for adapting so quickly and making it a fun experience for all our clients. We’d also like to thank our families who’ve participated so far! We’ve been using shared screens and boom cards to make it more interactive! We’re looking forward to next week :) #speechtherapy #telehealth

09.01.2022 IMPORTANT MESSAGE PLEASE READ Dear clients, Your health along with the health of our therapists is of the utmost importance. In light of the most recent announcement made by our Premier re: Covid-19, we have decided to stop all clinic and external visits, effective immediately, until further notice. Instead we will organise telehealth (Zoom) sessions to replace our current sessions. Please be patient with us as we transition through this phase. Our therapists will spend the next few days working away and they will do their best to answer your emails and phone calls. Thank you for your understanding and support at this challenging time. Your therapist will be in touch with you in the next week to discuss Telehealth. Stay safe everyone!

09.01.2022 Hi everyone! Please watch the following video to learn how to access Zoom for your sessions.

06.01.2022 Wishing all our mothers a happy Mother’s Day! You are loved and appreciated for every thing you do! I hope you are all spoiled today xx
