09.01.2022 Good morning friends. It’s been awhile since I’ve checked in during these difficult times. I’ve been pretty busy enjoying a slower pace and connecting deeply with my family during Covid-19 I’m very excited to announce I’m just days away from putting up our website live. Even though we’ve been quieter on the gig front we are all looking forward to getting out and performing again. I’m excited to share our music with you all, it seems just perfect during these changing times. ... My lyrics and songs speak truth, they uplift people in ways they cannot always understand through voice and resonance and the message is to RISE. ‘Rain Dance’ is about the pollution that continues to affect our planet. The poisoned rivers, waterways, seas and the mining impacts this beautiful planet. I wrote the song when I witnessed a cousin at Standing Rock in the USA protesting about the Dakota Access Pipeline. A powerful image of an army of buffalo herd were running down the hills standing as one with the people to protect the waterways. Such a powerful, incredible image which had great impact on me. So it was here I decided to write about our waterways and stand to protect clean water, clean living. I’m focussed on releasing these incredible songs so that they can be shared, played and celebrated. Through music we can create change and that’s exactly what I am here to do via my music. The reason I called the song ‘Rain Dance’ is it is my Native American Indian heritage that believe the rain cleansed the earth. There was also a drum rhythm the Blackfoot tribe do called Rain Dance and I wanted to honour my own drummer in creating a rhythm that reflected the cleansing of the earth. My grandmother is from Blackfoot Tribe so I researched all the Blackfoot drum rhythms when I was studying at music school. It was in that moment those drum rhythms came to me whilst writing these lyrics. Anyway, just sharing about my writing process as I look forward to creating and finishing this piece in the near future and I hope my music will continue to inspire and uplift people for many decades.
