23.01.2022 Good news folks! It's been confirmed that from September 28 (this coming Monday), allied health will now be able to see a wider range of patients for in person treatment. You are welcome to book an appointment if you have an injury or pain that may: * Worsen without treatment... * Take longer to improve without treatment * Has not improved due to the delay in treatment during previous Stage 4 restrictions While we welcome this news, the aim is to still reduce any unnecessary travel or movement of people. Therefore if you are not in pain and wanting a "check up" or routine service, we encourage you to consider delaying at this stage. If you are at all unsure, give us a buzz on 9416 0258, or email [email protected]. Find our online bookings page at https://www.soundosteopathy.com.au/bookings Take care and look out for each other, Carmen and Rachel x #soundosteo #osteo #fitzroy #supportlocal

18.01.2022 WE ARE BACK BABY! Allied Health resumes routine service as of today. . . We thank you for your patience and understanding whilst we navigated Stage 4, and look forward to welcoming you back into the clinic for face to face sessions. We will continue to offer telehealth, which are great for checking in on management, exercises and at home desk set up. Book online for in clinic and telehealth now!! .... . To allow for cleaning time and to ensure no waiting room crossover, we are still operating at a slightly lower capacity, so are quite busy at the moment! Thanks for your patience while we help everyone unwind after a long few months. . . As always, please stay home if you are unwell, get tested if you are unsure and make sure to wear your mask to the clinic. . . YAHOO! 15.01.2022 Morning Melbourne! Are you mask ready? Here is what is in our mask kit. It's useful to pop your mask, hand sanitiser and an ear saver if you have one in a clean and handy place, such as a snap lock bag. Swipe through for @who advice on how to safely wear fabric or surgical masks! . . At @sound.osteo we wear surgical grade masks while treating, and we now ask that you bring in your own mask to wear during treatment. Not only will this be mandatory from Wednesday, it helps both... practitioner and you stay safer whilst in a close, indoor environment. If you don't have one, we will have ours available for a small donation. . . Stay tuned for handy hints we've discovered along the way to make mask wearing more comfortable! We thank you all for doing your part to keep the community safe. . . #soundosteo #fitzroy #masks #osteo @ Fitzroy, Victoria See more

We continue to offer telehealth appointments for those self-isolating, needing help with WFH set-up and musicians wanting advice on instrument and rehearsal posture/technique. Book online today! . . 13.01.2022 Just in! New beautiful @wheatbagslove wheat bags, just in time for a cold isowinter week. Rachel bought two, but there are enough for you! Grab one at you next appointment or email us to purchase. #osteo #fitzroy #wheatbags

13.01.2022 Carmen’s back with another helpful home care video! We had a request for one on the TMJ, or jaw, which is so often an issue for people who are under stress, not sleeping well or again sitting for long periods at the computer. Jaw tension can lead to headaches or sometimes TMJ dysfunction where the jaw clicks or gets stuck. If this is happening we recommend coming in for an assessment and in clinic treatment to help get that sorted! In the meantime, play along at home

12.01.2022 Getting masks right can be tricky, and feeling comfortable can take some practice. . Even though we know the reasons behind wearing a mask and want to do our bit to help stop the spread, doesn’t mean that it is easy or feels great on the first go. Fear not, we are here to help!... . Rachel has pulled together five simple tips that can help us get the hang of masks and breathe a little easier in the coming months. Check it out, feel free to forward on to any friends or family who are finding it a bit tricky! #soundosteo #masks #breathing #osteo #fitzroy #masktips

11.01.2022 As we wait for further clarification on what Osteopathy will look like in Stage 4 restrictions, we are here to remind you that we are here for you virtually! . . Telehealth is a fantastic way to continue injury management, offer acute condition advice and check in on your work from home set up. IN PARTICULAR it is a great way for us to look at your instrument set up at home and make tweaks to playing posture. We also offer tailored BREATHING programs which can help with anxi...ety, chronic sinus issues, nasal breathing amongst other breathing dysfunctions. . . Get in touch via email to ask any questions you may have, or book online by selecting Video Consult on our website! . . #telehealth #stage4restrictions #osteo #fitzroy #workfromhomesetup #musicianshealth #workingfromhome #soundosteo See more

11.01.2022 We’ve been talking a lot about how to ease lower back tension with all of our clients lately (hello lockdown), so here is a brief video with some easy moves to relax those muscles. Sitting around more than usual or trying out new forms of exercise might be causing some lower back tension so give this a go! . If you have any existing injury or significant pain, please give us a call to chat about appropriate movements or exercises for you first. . If this feels good and helps..., save the video and do it every day! . Take care out there x See more

07.01.2022 With the recent Stage 4 restrictions in place, even more of you are working from home, and less of you are able to come in for treatment. So, for those that are just setting themselves up or for those that have not quite perfected the art of working from home - here is our WORKING FROM HOME DESK CHECKLIST! . . If this sounds useful to you, check out the in depth version on our website https://www.soundosteopathy.com.au//work-from-home-desk-se .... . Feel free to share this graphic around to anyone that might be in need. Over the last few months we’ve seen just how much these little adjustments can help fend off the WFH aches and pains. . . If you’ve tried all of this and are still struggling, please get in contact and we can give individualised advice, have a telehealth session or book you in for when we are back on board in September () . . Stay well and safe - Sound Osteo x See more

07.01.2022 Stretches and self massage to fend off pain but also to just feel amazing Our hands give us so much. We eat, work, communicate, care for others, care for ourselves with them every day. Spend a moment giving back to them and getting to know them. Touch, even when applied to yourself with your own hands can provide a sense of connection. There’s a lot of talk about self care of late (as there should be), so this could be a nice easy self care thing you do today. Enjoy!

03.01.2022 Now that you’ve sorted your desk set up (see past post), it’s time to give you some brief chunks of exercises to do during your iso days. First up is FEET! . . If your feet are feeling a little stiff, or even if they’re feeling fine, give this a go. Great to boost circulation, to mobilise the 26 bones and many more muscles hiding away in there, and aid recovery if you’ve started running or been walking more lately #dontforgetyourfeet

02.01.2022 STAGE 4 UPDATE: . .... Sound Osteopathy will be open ONLY FOR URGENT CARE, with all routine/non-urgent care will ceasing during Stage 4 restrictions (currently until September 13). This is in line with current government advice and the aim to reduce the movement of people as much as possible. Where possible, telehealth will be the primary mode of client contact. . We will be contacting all patients in the coming days to reschedule any non-urgent appointments. . URGENT CARE APPOINTMENT ONLY, what does that mean? This is designed to provide care for patients, who without management would functionally deteriorate and need more drastic care (ie. admission to the ER). We urge our patients to get in contact with us via email or telehealth appointment if you are unsure if this is you. We will be following up any online bookings with a call with a practitioner to discuss your pain/injury and assess the need for urgent care. . . In line with this, we will be reducing our availability for online bookings, but urge you to get in contact if you are in urgent need and require an appointment outside of the available hours. . . WE ARE STILL HERE FOR YOU! Telehealth is an excellent way to get help with management, exercise advice, work from home setup, instrument and breath work. This will continue to be available on our website via online booking. Watch our social pages for more online content, products for contactless delivery and helpful tips for this tough time. . . We thank our wonderful community for their support and understanding so far whilst we do our best to adjust our practice at this time. We encourage you all to continue to protect those around you by staying home, wearing a mask and implementing strong hand hygiene. We also encourage you to seek help with taking care of yourself mentally, make exercise an important part of your day and staying in touch with your friends and family. We can do this. . . Yours in health and solidarity, Rachel and Carmen Sound Osteopathy
