11.01.2022 Dear Participants, Today we had plans to be together to celebrate South Asian Festival at Birrarung Marr; spend a very festive and busy day with thousands of crowds like past years. With heavy heart we had to accept the reality as COVID 19 took that festivity away from us. We want all of you to know that we are missing you; all our stallholders, patrons, performers & participants. ... But we promise to come back bigger and better next year on 10th of April 2021 @ Birrarung Marr, Melbourne. Till then please stay safe. Our prayers will be with you all. Sincere love from South Asian Festival committee
08.01.2022 Dear Community Members, It is our heartfelt delight to announce the flagship event of our Bengali community, the Boishakhi Mela, named as South Asian Festival will be held on Saturday, 18th April 2020 at the iconic Birrarung Marr in Melbourne. The festival organising committee have worked relentlessly over the years to make this event an exemplary one, raising the bar on every occasion. With continued success in hosting the event, we have brought new dimensions and surprises... to make the day more colourful, enjoyable and festive. In previous year’s fireworks at the event which filled every heart with joy and wonder. It was a resounding success. This year's event will not be an exception. We will be bringing another mesmerising, elaborative display of fireworks on the day which will definitely be a superb and grand experience. We are working with great passion to present a great showcase of events and cultural talents at the Boishakhi Mela 1427 (2020), to mark one of the most festive days of Bengali culture. We look forward to your participation as we proudly celebrate and light up the night sky once again. FREE ENTRY

03.01.2022 "A promise to return bigger and better" Dear Community Members, We hope all is well at your end.... With heavy hearts we would like to let you know that after much consideration and discussion amongst stakeholders and volunteers, the festival organising team has decided to call off the flagship event "South Asian Festival 2020", which was scheduled on 18 April 2020 at Birrarung Marr, due to the COVID -19 Pandemic. It is really heartbreaking for the organizers after their relentless efforts in preparations from last few months. However, YOUR well-being is our first priority. The festival organising team has always maintained a high standard in organizing events and we believe that we are committed to the community to uphold our glorious cultural diversity and we are adamant to act accordingly. We will keep you posted for further updates. We would like to reassure you that with the situation getting better eventually, we confidently promise to the community that we will return with a bigger and better South Asian Festival on 10 April 2021. Till then we wish everyone the best. Stay safe! Regards, Festival Organising Committee Email- [email protected]
02.01.2022 Dear Folks, ! With the crippled social and working life due to the COVID 19 pandemic, we are worried, scared and frustrated because of the uncertainty... and getting bored being stuck within the confined compound. In the meanwhile, a new Bengali Year is almost knocking at the door. We have been celebrating this day with lot of festivities for a long time and made Boisakhi Mela, a flagship event of our Community. This is the first time we had to postpone it and follow state emergency regulations to stay home for the safety of everyone. To cheer you all up and to take the boredom out of your daily routine our team have decided to take the help of virtual world and platforms to celebrate Bengali New Year. Event Name- Boishakh Celebration in Lock down Date (14 April 2020) Today- 8 PM10 PM UTC+10 Join us on facebook- https://www.facebook.com/ABCx.inc https://www.facebook.com/South-Asian-Festival-411862082957488 https://www.facebook.com/events/229574114982026 This is our commitment to the society, love for the glorious culture and small token of appreciation for all the support you have showered upon us all these years. We will enjoy and celebrate the New Year with lots of fun while we stay home and safe. We know these hard days will be gone and we will meet again.
