24.01.2022 Hi everyone, A great day with Circuit Excel at Kart Mania for karts and catch up. I was joined by Matt Avery and Deb Squires. Matt and I teamed up as team SAMROA to take on the Circuit Excel drivers. Matt started on poll and held position for a few laps, he got to the end of his first session and we were in fourth. I finished my 1st session and we were in 5th. We dropped the ball a little here but fought our way back to fourth overall at the end of the race. Looking at the timing sheet at the end we finished 1 lap down from finishing 3rd overall. Got to be happy with that considering the company we were in. Well done Matt and thanks for joining in. Thanks also to Deb for being official photographer.

Their were a few people showing interest and took some pamphlets with unfortunately only one person with a real interest. We managed to hand out a number of information pamphlets while the parade took place. I would like to thank Deby Hills, Maurice Hann, and Alex Varcoe for their time in decorating the Ute and trailer and taking the Ute in the parade. Well done guys. All in all , a good day spreading the word of what we are about.

19.01.2022 It is with great sadness to hear the passing of Ian (Skip) Taylor. A leader, a mentor but most of all a great friend to a lot of people of the Motorsport Community. On behalf of the South Australian Motor Racing Officials Association, I would like to pass on our condolences to Skips family and friends at this sad time.

19.01.2022 Hello everyone, In my previous post regarding the AGM I thanked those members that were vacating the Committee. In the process of doing so, I regretfully forgot a valued member, Lisett Hutchins. Lisett was a very engaged committee member always putting her thoughts forward and coming up with some great ideas. Lisett was the type of person you need on a Committee to help things go smoothly. Lisett, please accept my apologies for originally leaving you out. Regards Steve Lewis President

19.01.2022 To our members, No-one needs to go it alone This year has been one of the most trying years we have encountered. First with the Bushfires, both here and Interstate and now, with COVID19 disrupting our lives personally, professionally and socially, it is no surprise that levels of concern and anxiety have been quite prevalent in society. This brings me to remind everyone that tomorrow the 10th of September is RU Ok day. If you know someone who isnt feeling their best, ...it only takes a moment to touch base and ask them if they are ok. If you are feeling not quite yourself reach out and have a chat with a friend or contact one of our Motorsport Chaplains. Tom Westin and Peter Stevens are outgoing members from the Committee and I would like to thank Tom and Peter who didnt renominate for there time, effort and input. After the formal proceedings had concluded , the club put on a feast of pizzas and put some money on the bar for some drinks which everyone enjoyed in a social setting. 14.01.2022 Hello everyone, Firstly i'll like to thank all the members that have put their name down for the Thank you lunch at the SCCSA on Sunday, 6th Dec. We now have approximately 56 guest for this event. It appears we can't acquire this room for our December General Meeting and I for one Do not believe it is appropriate to hold a Meeting in a hotel dining room so , the Committee have decided that we hold a quick meeting prior to the lunch. I will try and get this over with as soon a...s possible so we can enjoy a social afternoon as it was originally planned. The presentation of the service pins will commence after the main course has been severed. The new start time will be 12.30 sharp. Looking forward to seeing you all their. Thanks again, Steve Lewis, President

14.01.2022 https://www.youtube.com/watch Hi every one, By now probably most have seen this Officials clip from the Asia Le Mans race at the Bend. Thought I would still share on our club page. It only runs for 45 sec or so and unfortunately doesn't reflect the amount of Officials on duty at all there post. But anyway , enjoy

14.01.2022 Hi everyone. Received an email from the SCCSA confirming their dates for the rest of the year as racing is set to return in SA . In addition to the SCC , the Superkart club also seem to be set to resume as from the 12th of July. Please take note of all dates here and place your name down . Once the gate list are in , that will be it. There will not be any adding names after the gate list has been lodged nor your name will be add on the day as Motorsport Australia need to know... exactly whose on site at each race meeting. The Database has been updated so please do not hesitate to get your name down. Cheers Steve. As the government restrictions ease, the Sporting Car Club are looking to Return to Race for some of our local events. I also believe that the Supercars are still at their original dates with the Shannons event to be held on the 16- 18th October. The TCC will fill you all in as normal as the events come closer with details. The State Championship dates that we are looking for SAMROA Officials are: 1st & 2nd August - Mallala 31st October & 1st November - TBMSP 28th November - Mallala

11.01.2022 Hi everyone, On Sunday December 6 we will be having our end of year lunch at the SCCSA, Reg Sparks Room. This lunch will be held in lieu of the more traditional change over dinner we have each year. The lunch will be catered by Liz and Nick Papanikolaou who will put on a great spread. SAMROA will be picking up the bill for all financial members with a $25.00 cost for non financial guests. Drinks can be purchased over the bar. The Reg Sparks Room can only cater for 72 guests at this particular time so be quick in getting your names down for this relaxed afternoon away from the track. The year pins will still be presented to the members that have achieved their respective milestones. I believe Janelle is putting out an invitation card very shortly for everyone to fill in. This will give us an exact number of attendees. See you there.

09.01.2022 Hi everyone, Just a quick note to thank those Officials who committed themselves to the Super Kart/ Modern Regularity event today. 09.01.2022 Hi everyone, Last night at the Maid Hotel, SAMROA'S new Committee was elected for 2019 - 2020. We saw a good turn out of members along with a few very new members which was great to see, a total of 33 people present. The Executive Committee is mostly unchanged other than two positions, this being the Assistant Secretary. This position went down to the vote between the then Assist Secretary, Shaun Halliday and Janelle Orrock. After the votes were counted Janelle saw her way in...to this position, also we see a new treasurer, Tom Westin, unopposed. Then the voting began again for the General Committee Members. Eight members for four positions nominated for Committee which is a very healthy number. Once all votes were counted, all the same Committee Members have remained, other than the new addition of Tony Aloi. The new Committee for 2019-20 is as follows, President, Steve Lewis. Vice President, David Castrachini. Secretary, Paul Bonnett. Assist Secretary, Janelle Orrock. Treasurer, Tom Westin. General Committee Members, Lisett Hutchins, Peter Stevens, Ray McGuiness, Tony Aloi. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jack Holding and David Vaughn for taking on the role as our official vote counters on the night. Also I would like to thank everyone for coming along and being part of it. I asked a few members last night for their thoughts on the new venue for meetings and the general consensus was good. I have booked the Maid Hotel once again for the October Meeting which is where the T&CC Committee will be voted in. I will set up an event page closer to the date so all members can let us know if they will be attending or not. Cheers for now, Steve Lewis. See more

02.01.2022 A reminder of tonights General Meeting. See you there.

01.01.2022 A great little interview confirming Dr Sam's commitment to Mallala. I'm sure most of you have heard about the resurfacing of the North Hairpin, but there are other significant works going on that are not so visually obvious... Tyre bundles on walls have been upgraded and made deeper, as well as lined with rubber matt to help distribute impact forces over an increased distance, thus reducing impact G's.... Sand traps have been extended in a couple of places to again reduce the chances of a vehicle reading the tyre bundles in the first place. Keep your eyes open for further upgrades and additions as we bring Mallala into the future, while continuing to honour the past and the history that makes Mallala such a special place in our hearts. Your continued support means we can continue to grow and improve. Spread the word. Share this post. Tell your friends. We hope to see you out there and have you on board for the ride into the future of Motorsport! https://www.speedcafe.com//shahin-still-targeting-nationa/ Image may contain: sky and outdoor
