23.01.2022 Due to the adverse weather forecast for tomorrow (12th May) and the potential for gale force winds (along with a high possibility of rain in the area) the committee has made the decision to put the toss back to Sunday, 13th May. We apologise for any interruption to peoples Mother's Day plans but given the weather forecast and how green the birds are we have made the call to give you all as much notice as possible and look after the welfare of the birds. If people have made other plans for Sunday and cannot toss then they will not be held to their basket commitments. If the weather looks too bad for Sunday then the toss will deferred to Monday. I will let you know ASAP if there is any change to this plan.

22.01.2022 National Loft Auction It has been suggested that rather than a loft pool for the National that we have a loft auction at Towradgi after the birds have been basketed. This seems to make sense to a lot of people so we will have the $10 loft pool for the Grand Prix Ballina race and also Deception Bay and the loft auction for the National will be conducted after basketing concludes and the truck is loaded on Saturday night at Towradgi. .

18.01.2022 The season is coming to a conclusion with the national next weekend. There will be three races, two from Ballina and the third from Deception Bay. 1. Basketing next week, Thursday 27th Sep, for the National, Grand Prix and Deception Bay will be done at Towradgi starting at 5:00pm. The National birds will be up on Saturday with the 2nd Ballina liberation and Deception Bay being up on Sunday. 2. Champion of Champions - will be contested from the National with the leading 5 fl...yers in the North and South section pointscores competing. They are: D&C Louth Alan Zahra Peter Clarke John Armstrong Joe Mamo Jeff Sheppard Dom Monteleone Paul Barnes Joe Monteleone Steve Pjevac 3. Presentation Night: - the date of the presentation night is Saturday 10th November at the Fraternity Bowling Club, Fairy Meadow, starting at 7:00pm. The cost is $40 per person and includes a buffet style meal similar to previous years and some drinks. Would all Secretaries please let me know how many of their members and partners will be attending by 27th October. Please let your club secretary know if you will be attending so that we can cater correctly and everyone is welcome.

18.01.2022 Our birds get into some strange places. This is one of them. A "civilian" rescued one from a Bunnings store and posted a message to us - see below. There are a lot of caring people out there and Sarah looks to be one of them. Action has been taken to identify the owner and get the bird back and it is great to see the interest that people show in our birds. Thanks Sarah and thanks to all those other people that help us get our birds back home.. "Hi, i rescued 1 of your birds from being trapped inside Bunnings at Kirrawee. It was very tired & I coaxed it down from the rafters with a bowl of water, after dark. I have it at my house. Would like to make sure it is safely returned. It has a plastic green ring & SCF18497 on the other ring with this phone number."

17.01.2022 The weather forecast this weekend for our National, GP and Deception Bay races is not good and it looks like rain on Saturday with strong southerlies and similar with showers on Sunday. Due to the unfavourable forecast the decision has been made to basket on Saturday for a Monday race. Basketing arrangements will remain unchanged (ie at Towradgi) although we will be making arrangements with the liberator at Deception Bay to have the birds up on Monday as well as the Ballina birds. Due to the changes and the coming long weekend we will not be having a loft auction but will conduct a $10 loft pool for each of the three races. Clock reading will be at Corrimal Bowling club on the day of liberation, hopefully Monday.

17.01.2022 The weather forecast for tomorrow, 13th May, is for strong winds and more rain than today. There is a gale force warning for the Illawarra coastal area for today and tomorrow. The forecast for Monday is not much better with very strong winds. Given the poor forecast for the next couple of days and the fact that the birds are still very "green" the toss for this week has been cancelled. The programmed tossing will still go ahead next week and continue as normal (ie Sunday's) for as long as the members support it and the weather permits.

16.01.2022 Good morning. My father has about 25 Fan Tail Pigeons of various colors. As they are moving house they have no where to house them. They are free to pick up if anyone in your club would like them? We are located in Kembla Grange and my number is 0438991966 Regards Peter

16.01.2022 The SCF AGM will be held on Saturday 9th February 2019 at Towradgi Club Rooms at 1:00pm.

16.01.2022 The SCF will be conducting a Charity race this weekend, 4th August, from Crescent Head. To help raise funds some of the best flyers in the SCF have generously donated some high quality pigeons for auction on Friday night, 3rd August at the Fraternity Bowling club from around 7:30pm. Birds from this year's SCF Short Pointscore winner, Dom Monteleone, will be auctioned plus birds from Wayne Gallagher, Derek Louth, Joe Monteleone, Peter Clark, Ian Price, Graham Worthington, Stephen Saywell, Jeff Sheppard and Graham Kerr. The accompanying photo and pedigree will give you some idea of the quality of birds that will be on offer. These are quality birds from the leading lofts in the SCF. A great opportunity to access top quality blood and help a worthy cause.

14.01.2022 The SCF Presentation Night is on this Saturday Night, 10th November at the Fraternity Bowling Club, Fairy Meadow. The bar will be open from 6:30pm with a buffet dinner set for 7:00pm. Cost is $40pp and there will be some drinks provided during the night. Everyone is welcome so come along for a good night out.

14.01.2022 Notice to all SCF members: The SCF Committee met last night (Aug 14) to discuss the liberation and the resultant outcome of the race held from Crescent Head last Saturday, 11th August. There was an issue with the liberation when the driver side release bar reportedly jammed and there was some delay with the release from that side of the truck. It was reported on the day that the baskets had to be manually opened due to this problem and that upon release the birds did form in...to a group and were on their way in under two minutes. The issue of the liberation has been discussed with the liberator and driver and although the birds were reported to have left as a group there can be no guarantee that some birds may have gained an advantage by the staggered release. The anomalies in some of the results could provide grounds for some doubt that all birds were given the opportunity to leave the race point together. As a result of doubts about the integrity of the race and in fairness to all SCF Members the SCF Committee has reluctantly made the decision to declare the Rota Cup and the SCF pointscore for this race null and void. All SCF Combine monies associated with this race will be refunded. Individual clubs can determine what they wish to do with regards to this race within their own club. The SCF Committee apologies to all prize winners in this race but the questions raised about the anomalies in the results has left us with significant doubt as to the fairness of these results given the problem at the race start. This decision is a reluctant one and under the circumstances was seen as the fairest outcome for all SCF members. Stephen Saywell

12.01.2022 The weather forecast this weekend is for severe winds for both Saturday and Sunday. These warnings have been taken into consideration and as a result this week's race from Caves Beach has been cancelled. Next Saturday, June 23, we will have a race from Berowra and then basket Saturday night for a race from Karuah on Sunday 24th June.

12.01.2022 The Sydney Pigeon convention details are starting to come through in more detail. The Agenda and accommodation options for those wishing to spend the night near the venue can be viewed on the SCF webpage www.pigeonrace.net/fed/scf

11.01.2022 There are a couple of important pieces of info that SCF members need to be aware of in the next couple of weeks: 1. The Charity race next week from Crescent Head 1 will have a Loft Auction at the Frat on the Friday night from around 7:30pm. The clocks will be read at your own club at 8:00pm on Saturday night. 2. The Rota Cup from Crescent Head 2 will have the loft auction on the Friday night at the Corrimal Bowling Club and the clocks will also be read at 8:00pm at that same... venue, ie Corrimal Bowling Club. 3. SCF members should be aware that there are reports in the SCF of birds that have developed the swollen eye lid syndrome which from Dr Walkers studies have been related to Rota infection. They should check there own lofts and take appropriate measures and not send birds to races with this condition. If members are in doubt then they may need to seek veterinary advice. Steve Saywell

09.01.2022 Given the adverse weather forecast (gale warnings) for tomorrow the race from Berowra 3 will be delayed until Sunday. Basketing will be on Saturday night with normal pickup times.

09.01.2022 Tomorrow's race from Karuah is postponed to Sunday 8th July due to the adverse weather forecast for Sat 7th July. The BOM has issued a severe weather warning for parts of the Illawara on Saturday with a marine Gale Warning for the Illawarra coastal waters. The forecast for Saturday also includes the chance of a thunderstorm about the Southern Highlands in the late morning with possible small hail. Winds will be west to northwesterly 25 to 35 km/h becoming westerly 40 to 60 km/h in the morning then decreasing to 30 to 45 km/h in the evening. The forecast for Sunday is much better being mostly sunny with a Westerly 25 to 35 km/h with lighter winds to the North of Illawarra. Steve Saywell Secretary/Treasurer

09.01.2022 Shellies Pigeon Club submitted a letter to the SCF Committee requesting that a Special General meeting of all financial SCF Flying Members be called to discuss the poor returns for this year's flying and put a motion to that meeting to change the flying direction to the South Route for the rest of the 2018 season. The committee met with Shellies representatives, discussed their letter of request and in accordance with our constitution resolved to call a Special meeting of SC...F members to discuss and vote on the following motion: "That the SCF change to the South Route for the remainder of 2018 racing season starting with racing from Bermagui on Saturday 21st July with a race programme of similar race distances to that which was scheduled off the North and finish racing on the October long weekend". The above motion will be the only motion discussed at this meeting and a vote will be taken on the night to determine if the motion will be accepted. Proxy voting will be accepted for those members who cannot attend the meeting. A copy of the proxy form can be downloaded from the SCF website. Meeting Venue: Towradgi Pigeon Club. Meeting Time : Wednesday, 18th July - 7:30pm The committee also resolved that a motion will be put to the membership to amend Racing By-Law 7a that we race two years South and two years North, starting with the South Route for the racing 2019 season and continue that rotation. A ballot will be issued to all clubs for this By-Law amendment with ballot returns to be completed by 1st August 2018. Stephen Saywell

08.01.2022 The latest press release from the ANPRB can be found on http://www.pigeonrace.net/fed/scf .Although most have been affected by the virus it is still disappointing that a vaccine looks to be moths away.

06.01.2022 There are two proposals for the race schedule for 2019. These will be taken into consideration when the SCF Committee determines the programme for next year.

03.01.2022 Not good news from the ANRPB regarding the current status of the Rota Vaccine as the process is further delayed by red tape.. The latest press release can be viewed at http://www.pigeonrace.net/fed/scf

02.01.2022 Terry Cooper 's sale is fast approaching. Looks to be some very good pigeons in the catalogue. Have a look in the following link to the SCF webpage http://www.pigeonrace.net/fed/scf for all catalogue info.
