24.01.2022 At South Coast Vein Institute we offer surgical and non-surgical management of venous reflux disease (varicose veins). One of the non-surgical management options is use of medical-grade compression stockings. Some patients may not be suitable for surgery or have other conditions which make compression stockings a more favourable treatment option. At SCVI we can measure and provide compression stockings for patients. To book a consultation to find out what your treatment options are call us on (03) 55625330

23.01.2022 Varicose vein surgery Some patients have vein anatomy or vein disease which may mean that they are not suitable for less invasive treatment options. However South Coast Vein Institute can offer many different treatment options including "stripping" of varicose veins in theatre. Mr Scholtz Wiggett is a specialist general surgeon who is experienced in performing traditional varicose vein surgery. This is one of the many treatment options that can be discussed during your consultation.

19.01.2022 Sclerotherapy is an option for treating varicose veins and spider veins. Sclerotherapy involves injecting a special solution called sclerosant into abnormal veins with small needles. This can be done by direct vision injections for visible veins or with ultrasound guidance for deeper veins. Once injected the veins will collapse and gradually be resorbed by the body. The number of injections and type of sclerosant will be determined at the time of your initial assessment. Aft...er the procedure you will be required to wear compression stockings but will be able to return to work and normal activities. Want to find out more about sclerotherapy? Visit our website at https://scvi.net.au/treatments/ or give us a call on 03 5562 5330

19.01.2022 Swollen legs! They are common in people who are have varicose veins and is often a cause of patient concern. Swelling is often associated with leg heaviness and aching. Patients may find that varicose vein treatment helps reduce swelling as it eliminates much of the congestion associated with venous reflux. If you would like to know what the status of your varicose veins are get in touch with SCVI to arrange an ultrasound assessment and consultation. (03) 55625330 or visit https://scvi.net.au/contact-us/

07.01.2022 "If my veins are removed, where does the blood go?" It's a question we hear a lot and the answer is quite simple. By closing or removing the diseased veins we redirect blood flow into healthy veins, which helps to improve circulation. ... Diseased veins can cause congestion and many other issues. They are no longer of any use to the venous system and therefore removing them is beneficial for your health.
