25.01.2022 As many of you have now seen, the many FOI forms lodged from within our very own community, based on the ballistics report conducted many months ago on gel blas...ters, have now finally been received. Its now time to analysis all angles of this information provided and formulate an effective response using all resources available! This is not the time for panic and fear mongering, this is time for smart, logical and proactive responses and counters to ensure this sport, hobby and industry remains here in SA for the long term! We will keep you all updated shortly with the response and actions we are set to undertake!

17.01.2022 Our response to BS ballistics report from SAPOL.

16.01.2022 Another interesting 2-day competition won by the black team...

16.01.2022 Good morning community! We held a brief phone conversation with the head of Firearms branch yesterday to discuss where they are currently at with the review bei...ng undertaken. I recorded dot point notes during the discussion to ensure full transparency. Although we weren't able to get through all our questions in the time allocated, we do have their direct contact details to raise any further questions and concerns moving forward. 9/11/2020 ******** *SAPOL/Firearm branch has a plan of action that they have been preparing since the start of the year regarding gel blasters in SA. An announcement is expected within weeks, preferably after talks with retailers . *The blasters (3 out of 4) used in the most recent ballistic tests that were originally allegedly seized by SAPOL, were modified and the blasters were of the M4A1 make, however no specific models or further details given. *They brought up that they have been directly contacted by another association not just ours, who were more inclined to tell the SA firearm branch what they can and cannot do based on QLD law and legislation even though the SA firearm act is not the same. They were not impressed. *They found that during the testing of the blasters that the mechanism in these blasters is similar to that of Airsoft. That they compress air therefore meets the Firearm definition. They also raised that the blaster gearbox is easily modified regarding plungers etc. They also raised the look of the blasters. *They want to have further discussions with the gelball industry, especially the retailers regarding the selling and regulating of gel blasters moving forward. (We reminded him that SAGA has the representatives for almost every retailer and field operator in SA to ensure easier contact which we agreed has been an issue in previous times) *They discussed the idea/plan of regulating gelball the same as paintball in the interim until another more efficient option/plan is provided, and they have said they are open for further discussions with us on ways to make it work for all parties. If gelball is to be placed under paintball regulations in SA then the plan SAPOL have is to potentially put/record serial numbers on all blasters, individuals who own them must register them and have an appropriate classed firearm license. If or when regulations come into SA, we would prefer to follow something more closely resembling the NSW (sporting skirmish) permit system for both gelball and paintball and have the control shifted from firearm branch to the consumer business and affairs as they have been running for almost the past 2 years. Classing gelball under firearms and the process involved will without any doubt seriously hurt retailers and then the negative flow on effect to field operators, part suppliers, and all the small businesses linked to gelball will be very concerning. *They explained that the fact that majority of gel blasters are full automatic in function which would technically sway them under Prescribed firearms, however it was also stated by them that gel blasters are non lethal therefore common sense would be taken into consideration. *If blasters are placed under restricted firearms category i.e. if you have a hand pistol blaster, then that would mean you would need a firearm license with the hand pistol class category. Yet once again blasters are non lethal and common sense would need to apply for any drastic move like that. *They are currently looking into using a form of adhesive sticker with serial numbers as an option to help them regulate ALL blasters. *They discussed a recent call out where SAPOL sent staff to attend a dispute where a family had an argument with its neighbors then the family all decided to shoot up the outside of the house with blasters to torment them. The public are not aware of just how regular these type of issues are. SAPOL patrols will generally only be informed "person with a firearm" when these jobs are called in, therefore they are consistently throwing excess resources to these call outs just in case, although most times its just a gel blaster. *They appreciated the Stop and Think program that we formulated, however stated that the retailers need more accountability when selling blasters to the public, safety awareness flyers are just not enough in their opinion to stop or reduce people misusing them. ******* Please read and understand everything that was discussed. We really need to be smart, calculated and somewhat cautious in moving forward with this, utilizing both the current laws, common sense and ALL working together to come to a mutual solution that can hopefully benefit ALL parties involved to keep our great sport and hobby going in SA. If you have any important information, ideas or even questions please send us a PM to our page to discuss further.

16.01.2022 Two sides approaching each other through the forest - suddenly the sound of SMGs erupts!

15.01.2022 Some things you should probably know about Gel Blasters in Sa Gel Blasters are still legal to buy and own in SA, please continue to support your retailers and... fields The SA Community has had their permits to import from overseas Blocked by SAPOL. Stock is getting low. We have solutions in place however it takes time to orchestrate. One council in SA have already stopped 1 field from opening as previously agreed, after SAPOL statement on TV that Gel Blasters are now under review. Which has got council off side with no evidence from SAPOL. We still haven’t seen the ballistics report that we requested . And we know roughly 4-7 enthusiasts have paid and requested the freedom of information release the report too. Thank you guys Some more important information 1- At this stage , alloy/metal receivers are frowned upon by SAPOL who have strongly advised that they should not be sold in SA and therefore are not allowed on most South Australian Fields, or to be sold by SA retailers. Doing so could damage our industry. 2- CO2 compressed gas in a Gel Blaster is currently not allowed in South Australia, SAPOL could charge you with a firearm offense. 3- Your Gel blaster should be hidden from public view when in transport and healthy communication between owner and neighbors can often stop unnecessary public concerns involving SAPOL attending your property unannounced. The outcome- Hopefully we get less resistance from SAPOL moving forward, We hope to get stock back on retailers shelves And reduce concerned members of the public with greater awareness around GelBlasters reducing the stigma that we are currently getting in the media. We’d really like your support as we navigate the path ahead. Together we can make a difference, Divided we will fall. SAGA

12.01.2022 Here are the rules for the Gel Blaster Association of South Australia. This is the entity that I am betting will have the most chance of saving our sport. Membership forms will be posted in a minute. Check out the rules - you can see it is democratic and represents players, retailers and field operators equally.
