23.01.2022 Hi everyone. At a time when the dojo is closed and many of us are not moving around as much as we used to, this quote of O Sensei comes to mind. https://www.pinterest.com.au/pin/403424079097503016/

17.01.2022 Hi everyone, I have been keeping an eye on the Victorian Department of Health advice relating to sports and recreation and martial arts. There are different restrictions based on whether you are in metropolitan Melbourne or outside. For us classes start back this Thursday as per the normal times (available on the website if you are unsure).... Currently in our part of the state, students in the kids class can have full contact and therefore, these classes can operate similar to normal. At the moment, students in the adults class are not allowed to have full contact and must maintain a distance of at least 1.5m. This is quite a headache for AIkido classes. So I have decided that in the adults class we will focus on weapons (sword and staff). This includes individual movements and patterns. I have also decided that I will also start teaching some Taekwondo patterns which was the first martial art that I studied, simply because these can be done without contact. In this way adult students can do some form of training rather than no training. I was planning on doing classes on other days, but the current COVID-19 situation makes it very difficult. Please be aware that from this term we move to a term fee system and again, the details are on the website. Please note that we do not have EFTPOS at the studio. If we do get shut down mid-term due to COVID-19, I will arrange for refunds. Please observe the following procedures: - Do not train if your principal place of residence is metropolitan Melbourne or Mitchell Shire. - Do not come to training if you are sick or have COVID-19 symptoms. - If possible, come dressed in your uniform. - Please, no spectators in the dojo (parents) during class. If you are the parent of a new child student and need to be there too, please talk to Julian before the class. - When you enter (and leave) the studio, please use the hand sanitiser provided (including around your wrists) - Only use a weapon with the permission of the teacher and wipe it down before and after use (wipes will be provided). - Kids, please go to the toilet before you come to class if possible. If you have to, you can use the toilet and change room (this is permitted outside of Melbourne) and I will be doing extra cleaning. - Please bring your own water bottle. It is a very difficult time for martial arts training but I hope to see many of you on Thursday. Cheers, Julian

14.01.2022 Hi everyone, The Victorian government announced yesterday changes to Covid-19 restrictions. Regional Victoria will be entering stage 3 restrictions from midnight this Wednesday. Gyms and the like are to be closed during stage 3. South Gippsland Martial Arts will also be closed during this time and it is unclear at this stage when we will be able to reopen. Thank you to those students who have been training for the last few weeks. I will be contacting those students directl...y who have paid the term fee to organise a refund for the rest of the term. Stay safe in these challenging times. Regards, Julian See more

14.01.2022 Hi everyone, while the regular school term 4 is beginning this week it is with disappointment that we inform you that we are still unable to open due to Covid-19 restrictions. The benchmark that the state government has set for us (in regional Victoria) moving to the next is stage is when there are no new Covid-19 cases in all of Victoria for 2 weeks. Today the 14 day average in Metro is 11.6 and in regional Victoria it is 0.3. Bass Coast has no active cases. All I will say is that the benchmark set is unbelievable. Due to the uncertainty we will not opening for the rest of 2020 and it is not at all clear when we will reopen. I will also update the website to reflect the current situation. Sorry for any incovenience.

10.01.2022 Hi everyone. My first Facebook post ever. There you go! From this point forward I will trying to administer this page as best I can. Firstly, I want to thank Ramin for all his admin efforts. What a champion! Secondly I want to give you an update on where we are at.... We have been closed firstly for renovations at the start of the year. The carpet has gone and the floor has been painted. Took a while. Then Covid-19 hit. You can't get closer contact than Aikido, right. We have had to shut down in line with Victorian government restrictions covering indoor sports and the like. I have updated our website. I want to thank Glen Orchard who has kindly allowed me to use his photos. I am very grateful to Glen and can thoroughly recommend him as a talented photographer of sports and recreation activities. The following is from our website: COVID-19 UPDATE - TRAINING TO RESUME ACCORDING TO THE VICTORIAN DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, THE FOLLOWING APPLIES FROM 11:59 ON 21 JUNE 2020 - INDOOR SPORT AND RECREATION ACTIVITIES CAN RESUME AND PLAYCENTRES CAN OPEN, WITH A MAXIMUM OF 20 PEOPLE PER SPACE OR ZONE, AND WITH UP TO 10 PEOPLE PER GROUP CLASS. 04.01.2022 Hi everyone. I'm heading down to the beach. If anyone is around Inverloch and would like to join me for a mini workout or cruise along the beach, I will be at the Inverloch Surf Life Saving Club at 5:15 (but only for a second!). Cheers, Julian

02.01.2022 Hi all. I needed to give you an update. I've been reviewing more material on the lifting of restrictions and it has come to my attention that another current requirement is that there needs to be a 1.5 metre distance between adult participants. That makes things pretty difficult for what I was hoping to do. As a result, we won't be proceeding with the practice sessions that I had announced for the school holidays. I'm sorry for the confusion. At this stage the Vic government says we can have classes for both kids and adults with full-contact from Thursday 16 July. This coincides with the start of school term 3. The situation is constantly changing so please continue to check our website and Facebook page. Julian

02.01.2022 Stay Safe- Stay Strong We will be back soon
