17.01.2022 A good news story for Hampshire Downs.

15.01.2022 South Killanoola recently hosted an Agriwebb Workshop for locals. It was a great session & we’re sure more businesses will be getting onboard to use the invaluable tool.

14.01.2022 25 years ago we supplied these Hampys for the movie Babe and are still supplying them today.

10.01.2022 Did you know that 2020 sees the South Killanoola Hampshire Down Stud celebrate 60 years since registration? Here is an page of information from South Killanoolas' 1984 Annual Sale catalogue. "The stud was registered in 1960 when Mr C.C. Seymour purchased one ram and 20 ewes from Sir Robert Cotton, Carrington Park, Oberon, N.S.W. Mr Seymour had been impressed by the breed while travelling through the U.K. and Canada.... The flock was first managed by Rosemary Vincent and for some years sheep were shown at Adelaide and local shows. During the 1960's the flock numbers remained static because of the lucrative trading of ewes to New Zealand. South Killanoola was sending as many ewes and rams as they could spare to New Zealand and many of the present New Zealand flocks have a strong influence of South Killanoola blood. The big break came in 1974 when the importing restrictions for sheep from New Zealand were ended. Promptly Mr Robert Seymour flew to N.Z. and had first selection from the leading studs in the South Island. The result of this trip was that 85 ewes and two rams arrived in Australia, being the first large consignment of stud sheep to enter Australia since the ban on imports in the early 1950's. The ewes had been mated in New Zealand which gave a further breeding outcross from the first drop of lambs. The South Killanoola breeding stock quickly rose to 250 breeders. The stud now breeds from 300 registered breeding ewes. The demand for flock rams has always exceeded the supply and the surplus ewes have been sold, in the main, to new enthusiasts starting up their own Hampshire shire flocks. In November 1979 Robert Seymour selected 28 1.5 year old ewes from the New Zealand Mitchfield stud which was being dispersed. These top ewes will help to expand the blood lines at South Killanoola."
