23.01.2022 South Maitland Railways staff have been busy the last few weeks removing and replacing the 1955's Double slip. Photos below of the progress and the finished product below

19.01.2022 We are saddened by the passing of the Hon Milton Morris AO. Milton was a great supporter of South Maitland Railways and the 10 class steam locomotives in particular. He was a remarkable man, who led a remarkable life. Our thoughts are with Milton’s family at this difficult time.

19.01.2022 As you all would be aware the Austar Coal mine is going into care and maintenance. The last coal train from the mine will be next Wednesday 18th March. The mine is actively seeking to recommence mining, but a recommencement date is unknown at this stage. In the interim SMR will continue to operate, mainly based in and around East Greta Junction. The track will still be used by other forms of rolling stock such as track machines for testing and certification purposes.
