04.01.2022 **WEATHER WARNING** SES: "SES State Duty Officer, Dave OShannessy, advises the community to be prepared for the stormy weather conditions. If safe to do so, secure garden equipment, trampolines and any other loose items which have the potential to become projectiles.... This advice follows the Bureau of Meteorology's forecast for a very windy, cold and wet day on Thursday. "On Thursday, expect damaging winds across a broad area of South Australia from south of Ceduna to Port Augusta to Renmark", said acting Bureau State Manager, Catherine Kennedy. "This is due to a cold front linked to a low to our south which will also bring with it squally showers and possible thunderstorms and small hail across southern parts of our state". "For Adelaide, the worst of the winds will occur midday to the evening, including the school pick-up and afternoon commute." "Conditions will be hazardous about southern coastal areas with rough seas and heavy swell expected with significant wave heights of 5-7 metres about exposed coasts developing during Thursday, persisting Friday before easing on Saturday," said Catherine Kennedy. SES is urging communities to be careful on the roads. It is important to be mindful when driving in stormy weather and remain vigilant of changing road conditions. Always drive to the road conditions and never drive through floodwater, said Dave O'Shannessy. The Bureau has forecast Thursday's rainfall ranges between 20-40mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges, 10-25mm for the Mid North and parts of the south coast. For Adelaide metro on Thursday, 10-20mm is expected with heavy falls possible about the hills. Should the public need SES assistance with a storm or flood emergency the number to call is 132 500. If the matter is life threatening call 000 (Triple Zero)."
