23.01.2022 Congratulations to Wayne Marwood, our sometimes bartender and now Bendigo Bowls Division 60 and over champion Wayne won 21 to 14 against Ken Rusbridge in the final after jumping away to an early lead.

20.01.2022 Greens for the grand finals this weekend have been announced. Spectators will be welcome to cheer on our South Bendigo Diggers teams. Sunday: Division 1- Bendigo East v South Bendigo (Golden Square Front).... Saturday: Division 4- South Bendigo v Strathfieldsaye (Bendigo Yarrington). Division 6- Kangaroo Flat v South Bendigo (Bendigo East A). Division 8- South Bendigo v Woodbury (Bendigo Hesse).

20.01.2022 The club has had two very successful intra-club practice matches so far this season. However we still need a few more names down on the list at the clubhouse for this Saturday afternoon so we finish our practice matches on a high note. Looking forward to seeing plenty of club members during Saturday for the BBQ and a good game of bowls.

12.01.2022 The Victorian State Championships are on at Warrnambool this Sunday until Friday, the 15th of January. Good luck to Brad Holland, Ethan Higgins, Greg Page and Liam Crapper who are all competing! We hope to wish a few of you all the best at the presentation night this Saturday.

Women’s Club Singles Champion: Rosie Punton. Division 1 Pennant Best & Fairest: Wayne Marwood. Division 2 Pennant Best & Fairest: John Dixon and Les Wilkinson. Division 4 Pennant Best & Fairest: David Conley. Division 6 Pennant Best & Fairest: Ann Howe. There were many awards presented and a lot of fun was had. Photos will be published here at a later date.

07.01.2022 No good news today after a super effort to make so many grand finals. Division 4 defeated by Strathfieldsaye 75-96. Division 6 defeated by Kangaroo Flat 97-80.... Division 8 defeated by Woodbury 77-79. Division 1 play off in the grand final tomorrow.

05.01.2022 Reminder: There will be no club awards presentation tonight. The event has been postponed due to national advice on gatherings amidst COVID-19 concerns. We hope to see you all safe and well at the club when we are able to resume our gatherings.

03.01.2022 Bowls Victoria have announced a further easing of restrictions on greens from June 1st and the South Bendigo Bowls Club are announcing that the top and bottom greens are both large enough to accommodate 20 people each. With the middle green also able to accommodate ten people there’s now plenty of opportunity for people to practice. We will keep you informed when we’re once again able to host our regular events such as jackpot pairs and scroungers.

At has been brought to my notice that there are some members who think that they may come to the club and use the greens. This is NOT the case. We have arranged with our green keeper to maintain the greens - because to let them deteriorate would be devastating. Please do not come to the club and use the greens until further notice. The Orange set failed i...n 2 areas of testing. 1. Failed to reach the World Reference Bowl (plain blue bowl) which means there was not enough bias. 2. Unmatched set of 4 bowls, which means the bowls have a different bias to each other. Current testing shows a minimum of 35% failure rate. Now is the perfect time to get your bowls checked and refurbished to be in tip top shape when the bowls season reopens. Full members and social members are both welcome to practice from 2pm this afternoon as long as they follow the guidelines. The greens at South Bendigo will open, for PRACTICE ONLY, at 2pm on Tuesday the 19th May 2020, under the following strict guidelines:... Open to members only Maximum of 10 per green Rinks will be 1.5 metres apart Maximum of 4 bowlers per rink Social distancing (1.5M apart) to be practiced at all times No shaking of hands, high fives or any contact with others Do not handle other people's bowls Use sanitizer provided by club Wash hands before and after play If you are feeling unwell do not attend the club Toilets on bottom green will be open Clubhouse will be closed Members in high risk category should strongly consider whether they ought to be playing having regard to their own circumstances/medical advice Register (kept in mat/Kitty box must be completed - showing start and finish times etc No spectators allowed.
