25.01.2022 The Rotary Club of Brisbane Taylor Bridge has decided to support these students with the introduction of our ‘International Student Food Relief Project’ where members pack the boxes at Cilantro Fresh, Corinda, ready for distribution through ‘Unidas Somos Mais Fortes Together We Are Stronger’. A huge thanks to Cilantro Fresh for letting the club use their premis- es, and donating of rice and pasta, as well as helping with ordering non-perishable goods such as canned beans, t...omatoes and other foods, long-life milk, and cooking oil. The relief boxes also contain fresh fruit and vegetable staples. Thank you to the team from Simon George & Sons for their recent generosity in donating some of the fruit and vegetables. Also, thanks to Ben from J H Leavy’s Darling Group, who not only ar- ranged access to wholesale prices, but he also donated delivery of the first boxes, and is incredibly supportive of the project. In addition to the food, some boxes have included hygiene care packs sourced from Project MOM, Nim Prasad’s project, which are included to help with both mental and physical health and wellbeing. The club has also received support from the Rotary Club of Brisbane International, who cooked and donated 50 curried chicken and rice meals, and the Rotary Club of Jindalee for their cash donation. Because we are all in this together, it is the club’s intention to support as many students as possible through these times of uncertainty, and to assist we have established a Go Fund Me page. 01.01.2022 Rotary Drought Fodder Project The Rotary Clubs of Broken Hill and Wentworth have come together on a joint project to distribute hay to drought effected farmers ...in the Western Region of New South Wales. They were given this opportunity by RAWCS Australia who received a donation of $1M from a generous donor in Sydney. The donor stipulated that the funds should go to cattle producers who need to keep their core herd together. The other part of the equation was that the properties needed to be in New South Wales so the NSW Government freight subsidy could be used for transportation. David Pearson, Deputy Chair RAWCS Ltd contacted Bob Cooper District 9520 RAWCS Chair who in turn contacted Broken Hill Rotary and I thank both these people for their involvement. The two New South Wales clubs got together and started looking for cattle producers within their areas who still had stock as a lot of producers had destocked due to the continuation of drought conditions. We were allocated 12 semi-trailer loads of hay amounting to $156K, 4 properties were located in the Wentworth area and 8 around Broken Hill mainly up towards Tibooburra. The drought effected properties that received the Hay were appreciative that the hadn’t been forgotten with the Bushfires and COVID 19 happening. They were extremely greatful and wished to pass on their thanks to Rotary and the donor. Bruce James Sandra Arnold Broken Hill Rotary Wentworth Rotary
