24.01.2022 School will remain open. However, we understand that many families are dealing with issues and concerns that are taking a huge toll. If you choose to keep your ...child/children at home, we understand and respect your decision. Please just let us know and please keep them at home - not on our streets, not in our parks, and not in our shopping centres - if that is your decision. It is not an easy job, for anyone, to try and explain to a Prep child about social distancing and why they can no longer hug their teacher, teacher aide, principal or friend. Its not easy doing one on one conferencing with a year 3 student who needs support to write whilst keeping a 1.5m distance and still give them a feeling of success. Its not easy telling students, of any age that they need to distance themselves from their friends at lunch times. And...it certainly is not easy changing the habits overnight of the little things that we have always done! Children don't understand a lot of what is going on, (as adults it is hard for us to comprehend) but as educators, we are doing everything possible to keep our students positive and happy in a very uncertain world! The empathy that all our staff are feeling for our parents, families and community members who have lost their jobs, or have been forced to close their doors, is endless. We have so many wonderful local businesses, community groups and people within our community that we will get through this together...somehow, but please know that you are not alone.

20.01.2022 24th March Message Thankyou to those parents who have let us know that their children will not be at school for some time. We continue to be increase the cleani...ng and sanitation with the playgrounds, seats rails bins etc sanitised twice a day. They are done before morning tea and before lunch. Other areas are sanitised three times. I really have to say thankyou to our cleaners who have really focussed on ensuring the school is sanitised well. Children have been wonderful about washing hands frequently. Parents are requested to deliver children to the outside class areas and leave. We would prefer that parents / visitors stay out of classrooms as we have put many strategies in place to minimise cross infection. If parents wish to speak with their child's teacher please ring the office and a phone interview will be made. A huge thankyou to the parents who collected their children on time and left yesterday. Just a reminder to keep your child home if they are displaying any symptoms of illness - cough cold etc etc. There will be further information about online programmes that families can access to keep progressing their children's learning. the school will be purchasing some site licences that will enable students to have their own user name and password. Please make sure that we have up to date phone numbers, emergency contacts and email addresses. Regards Robyn Philpott Principal

20.01.2022 The end of this term marks the retirement for one of our Childers’ Drivers, Noel. Over 15 years he has offered great service and a consistent positive influence among both other employees and passengers alike. It was good to spend an evening with Noel and the rest of the Childers crew to wish him a happy farewell into retirement

16.01.2022 Good afternoon all, Just a quick update on the COVID-19 situation regarding transport to and from school on the buses. As I’m sure you’re all aware, the Queensland Premier announced that from the 30th of March to the 3rd of April schools will be having pupil free days. However the schools will remain open for children of essential workers, so following the advice of the Department of Education all transport to and from schools will remain available to those students who will ...still be attending school. Along with continuing to run the buses as normal, we will be adding additional hygiene and cleaning practices on top of our usual cleaning requirements to ensure that risk of contamination is minimal. We also ask that students maintain a high level of hygiene and refrain from catching the bus if they are showing any symptoms of COVID-19, this is to ensure the health and safety of our bus drivers and other students. If you have any questions regarding transport feel free to comment below or message the page. For more information on COVID-19 we recommend looking at the Australian Government Department of Help page (link provided below). https://www.health.gov.au//novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-hea We hope everyone is staying safe, washing their hands and practicing social distancing (where possible) during these interesting times.
