25.01.2022 Welcome to 2021! We have officially re-opened following our short break and look forward to seeing our clients again. SCSP is a COVID safe business, and given the rise in cases across NSW and Victoria during the Christmas period, we will be asking the following questions before each appointment so that we can keep our team and our clients safe. In the last 14 days, have you or anyone in your household: ... - Travelled to a known COVID-19 hotspot area? - Been tested for COVID-19 and are currently awaiting results? - Had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 and been instructed to isolate? - Been notified as being a casual contact? - Experienced cold or flu-like symptoms? (E.g. sore throat, fever, headache, runny nose) SCSP will continue to enact our COVID-19 safety plan and will maintain strict cleaning and hygiene practices. We will be asking all clients to wash or sanitise their hands on arrival. If you have any concerns about attending your in-person appointment, please don’t hesitate to chat to your therapist. We can continue to support our clients using non-face to face methods such as Telehealth, home programs, parent coaching, resource development, or a combination of these!

25.01.2022 Following the summer bushfires, Broulee Psychology was fortunate enough to receive some grants to provide support for our community. We did this through a mix ...of face to face and online groups to help our community manage their mental health following the bushfires. To mark the first anniversary of the most devastating day for our area, we have transferred the online group content to Teachable, an online learning platform that allows anyone online to participate in the online group. This means you can access all the content from the seven-week program, completed in your own time, at your own pace. It is also completely confidential and best of all it is completely FREE. What do you have to lose? Check it out today and learn some helpful strategies to manage your mental health during these challenging times. Click on the link below to check it out. We look forward to supporting you. https://broulee-psychology.teachable.com/purchase

23.01.2022 This could be an amazing opportunity for a local school leaver.

23.01.2022 We love the parent friendly tips from The Hanen Centre and regularly use a Hanen approach for supporting late talkers and children on the Autism Spectrum. Hanen focuses on the importance of the child-parent interaction to build language. Check out their suggestions for helping children to learn vocabulary through repetition: www.hanen.org/repeat

22.01.2022 We want to wish our South Coast Speech Pathology community a happy, safe and relaxing holiday. We are now officially closed for Christmas and will reopen on 4 January. If you need to contact us during this time, please email [email protected] ... See you in 2021!

21.01.2022 We love to use visual schedules in our sessions, especially with our clients who have delayed language skills or find transitioning between activities tricky. Visuals help by: Reducing anxiety about the unknown (today we are going to play with the ball and the cars, and then read a book) ... Letting your child see what you mean (first, we’re going to play with the ball) Preparing your child for the transition to the next activity (we have finished with the ball, let’s check what is next! It is time to play with the cars!) Visuals can assist children with difficulties processing spoken information by giving them visual clues to match what is being said. This helps to build confidence and independence! Visual schedules don’t have to be fancy - you can grab a piece of paper and quickly draw the activities, or take a photo with your phone of each activity, save them in a folder, and use it as a slideshow. There are also some great apps available that help you easily make a visual schedule that you can take with you. For older children, you can simply draw boxes to represent each activity. As the activity is completed, your child can tick the box before moving on to the next activity.
