02.01.2022 I would just like to address a few things in John Smith's private defamation emails: In John Smith's own words in that private email assault on many bona fide W...SLVT sifus and pratitioners. "I'm just trying to keep the bastards honest....." Let's analyze that statement shall we.. John Selects a few people he personally does not like who are involved in WSLVT and starts a full on character assassination attempt to ruin the good name of these people (something he's done time and time again over the years) including myself and others who have no loyalties or connections to him whatsoever... Two of these people he is trying to defame were HIS OWN STUDENTS! Paul and Nick. The kind of impression he was trying to portray about these two was that they had little to no training under him, let alone representatives of his school when challenge fighting and holding signed certificates by JS himself (evidence available if needed). The message sent out by John was a dishonest one (remember the mantra of "keeping the bastards honest") statement from the start. Let see just one example dating back over 10 years ago as it's a rewrite of an article John wrote before and has posted it again "some time ago", -------------------------------------------------- August 20th 2003: "This was an artilce that I placed on the web some time ago One of my students, Nick Jansen, has had an interesting experience with a professional boxer. On Tuesday 12/02/2002 Nick ventured up to Shidoshi Martial Arts, there is boxing ring where several people from Wollongong in New South Wales Australia, like to train. Unwittingly Nick stepped into the ring with a guy by the name of Steven Douet. Steven`s credentials are quite impressive to say the least. Australian Amateur Welter weight kick boxing champion 1992 to 1995 World Amateur Welter weight kick boxing champion 1997 to 1998 Steven is now ranked in the top 100 as a professional boxer with WBA. Nick decided to jump into the ring with Steven for a bit of sparring, they only spared for two rounds. In the first round Nick countered every attack that was thrown at him, and delivered a resounding beating. Nick kept the centre-line where no jab or cross, or hook worked. In the second round, Steven danced around and tried to use a different strategy of keeping out of the way. After this episode Steven commented to Nick, that fighting Nick was like fighting a freight train, and that he had no form of counter. Nick questioned Steven`s changed strategy in the second round, and Steven`s response was that not much of what he was being thrown at Nick really worked. The moral of the story is that Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun obviously works. How does it work? Then follow the basic principles of. Lat Sau Jik Jung, springy forward force. Yiu Lik, waist force, using your stance. Seung Ma stepping forward aggressively Relaxation, keeping you hands/forearms relaxed and your elbows the engine of your strikes. Joi Ying, hit your opponent and do not chase his hands (Joi Sau). Jung Sum Sin, keep the centreline. This is what Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun is all about. The above mentioned bout was with head gear, sparring gloves and no kicks in order to conform to the boxers code of ethics. Imagine if it had been no gloves and no rules! Cheers John Smith" -------------------------------------------------- Paul Otis & Nick Jansen very good people, with good intentions at heart, now fighting to save their honor after this senseless act of sabotage by John Smith with the backing of David Peterson.... -------------------------------------------------- If Nick was my students, I'd be pretty damn happy to have him..... guess no one should outshine the sifu though right........ especially when they throw you and your sifu around your own kwoon...... If this is what he calls "Keeping it honest" what can you trust coming out of his mouth? The moral of this story: Don't fall into the trap of blindly trusting people who hold (not wsl certified) positions that look like authority as they can and are quite often found to lack even the most basic of Martial moral values and ethics and are of very questionable character as you can see from above. Finally I would just like to point out the mission statement of the WSLSA, you can judge for yourself.... "Anyone deemed to be of questionable character, or who fails to maintain the high standards expected by the WSLSA, will have his or her application put to a vote, if necessary, and may be declined Membership. In addition, Memberships can be revoked at any time should a person behave in a manner that does not reflect the goals and standards of this organization." - WSLSA's fb page.
