24.01.2022 A picturesque evening stroll over the footbridge walkway across the Moyne River, with dramatic sunset sky, tranquil water and Norfolk Pine reflections Photograph Neptune Blue Port Fairy With a view to the Port Fairy Wharf, now home of the delectable seafood restaurant and fish and chip shop 'The Wharf@Port Fairy' once used for a port! ... At its peak in 1850, the port was the second busiest in Australia, with; wool, wheat and gold loaded onto sailing ships bound for England. The ships anchored in the bay while goods and passengers were ferried back and forth from the wharf on smaller craft, known as lighters. The Wharf@Port Fairy restaurant and cafe has now replaced fishing as the major attraction, however an active fishing fleet still operates out of the harbour and it is home to a small fleet of pleasure craft Just a short walk from the Southcombe Caravan Park the footbridge walkway adjoins the Port Fairy CBD and wharf to beautiful East Beach and historic Battery Hill. 23.01.2022 Ready . Set . Explore Get your sneakers on and traverse the region on foot to discover the beauty of the Moyne Shire. Visitors to the region can explore shipwrecks, a lighthouse and estuaries while reaping the relaxing benefits of breathing in the fresh coastal air.... Some of the established coastal trails include: . A natural oasis almost in the heart of the town, Griffiths Island supports a number of native animals including a small mob of swamp wallabies. It is also the site of one of the Australias most accessible breeding colonies of short tailed shearwaters or mutton-birds. The birds follow an amazing life cycle travelling incredible distances. A short walk along the causeway from Martins Point gets you onto the island which hosts a number of paths. Please keep to the tracks on the island for a careless foot can collapse a burrow and bury a mutton bird or chick. . The 22km beach walk from Warrnambool to Port Fairy passes the last known resting place of the elusive Mahogany Ship, thought to be a Portuguese caravel that was wrecked in the early 1500s. It later vanished under drifting sands in the 1890s. The area is also home to echidnas, rare hooded plovers, mutton birds and crested terns. In winter or spring, you might even glimpse a southern right whale. For shorter walks, enter the region at one of several access points along the way. . Follow the walking track from the southern end of the Bay of Martyrs carpark. This short but spectacular walk leads to the site where the Falls of Halladale ran aground in 1908. If you feel like a longer walk along the coast, continue through to Wild Dog Cove. . Once an important stopover for those travelling between Warrnambool, Port Fairy and Portland, Yambuk today is a genuine small, quiet Victorian hamlet with a population of around 300 people who enjoy its natural beauty and lifestyle. The Yambuk Lake Walk starts as a sandy track following the lake shores before meeting the boardwalk up to the lookout. Yambuk Lake Walk reveals some worthwhile views as the lake gives way to the ocean.

18.01.2022 The Port Fairy Lighthouse was built in 1859 on what was then Rabbit Island. This later became part of Griffith Island. The light is over 12 metres above high watermark and its visibility to seaward is 20 kilometres. The Lighthouse walk is a tranquil and picturesque walk easy for all ages, you can even ride your bike ...for the more adventurous you can continue on and loop Griffith Island. The walk is approximately 5km and takes an hour to complete. 01.01.2022 Artist Mark Rosenbrock, aka Captain Carver, makes his mark through large scale wood carvings and chainsaw sculptures, we have two pieces of his work at our beautiful Gardens Caravan Park, the Southern Right Whale and the Playful Seal Pups Mark is currently working on a Dancing Dolphin sculpture, to be followed by a Native Animal creation As we up-cycle large Cypress Pine Tree Stumps from ancient trees gone by, Mark sets his scaffolding and takes to the trunks with his ...chainsaw to carve away the wood and create incredible sculpture artwork.
