25.01.2022 Its nearly here!!!! Last reminders to parents about the Carnival on Friday We need you to help us stay safe!! Remember we can only have this carnival because we are following all Health guidelines! Dont spoil it for your children! Mind the 1.5m spacing! The map of the school shows where photos can be taken, where the exit for the toilet and the toilets for parents are, the viewing area behind the fence for the ECE tabloids and where the bays will be for students. Program...s will be available attached to the bunting lines. Please help yourself to one. There is no canteen or cake stall Lunch is picnic style with 1.5 distance between families. PP and Year 1 can be signed out at their classrooms for lunch and then signed back in after lunch. Children who are not signed back in may not remain with parents in the afternoon as this causes problems for staff who will be keeping children in bays. They must go home or go back to class. Only use Wetlands toilets and maintain 1.5 distancing. Photos of place getters can be taken in the marked area. Leave as soon as you have taken your photo so others can have a turn Kindergarten children will run their race first. Children not rostered on that Friday should not wear a school shirt. They need to meet Mrs OBrien at 9:00 at the bottom goalpost Only designated parent helpers should be on the main part of the oval. All others must remain behind the ropes/cones and the eastern fence. Parents must stay away from the bays for safety. Parking at the shopping centre is for 4 hours only. Parking rangers may be in attendance. Urgent note re Leavers shirts 2021 Order forms are going home this week to Year 5 students and need to be returned with payment by the last Friday 25th September.

20.01.2022 Carnival week news The carnival planner has been completed and is available on Connect with the programs for both the field events and the main carnival. We consider we are fortunate to be able to hold the carnival this year and seek your cooperation. We are expecting fine weather so advise you bring sunscreen as well as your own hand sanitiser. These will be available in the bays for your children.... The following extra information is supplied to make us COVID safe on the day: Mr Gough is asking for assistance to set up the shade shelters. Helpers are asked to maintain 1.5m for all adults during this time. When the carnival starts, all parents must be either on the western or southern sides of the roped off area. Field event information. Parents are welcome to watch, however you must stay well back from the events and away from all children. ECE information: Parents will be welcome to watch these events from the banks behind the fence. Only designated helpers will be allowed onto the oval during the tabloids. You are asked to access the area through the parent toilet exit gate by the goals or through the carpark gate. Toilets: Parents will use the toilets in Wetlands block. Toilets will be cleaned regularly during the day. Staff only in the staff toilets due to limited number. Photographs: Parents will be able to take photos of place getters from behind the rope barrier near the goals. You are asked to take the photo and then leave that area so everyone can have access. You may prefer to take the photo of your child with their ribbon at lunch.

15.01.2022 Connect Hi Lynette, New Notice... School Space: South Coogee Primary School - Parents How exciting! Created by Stephanie Cotton Thursday, 17 September 2020 @3:42PM On Monday and Wednesday next week Mr Thorne is inviting all children in our school to add their hand print to our awesome mural of the 6 Aboriginal Seasons as part of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). This is a lasting legacy and will therefore be done in water based house paints. Children will be able to wash their hands immediately in soapy water which will remove most of the paint from their hands. I am not promising it will remove all! Please let your childs teacher know if you do not want your child to participate. 15.01.2022 A fresh spring morning saw the final board meeting for Term 3 take place - and there was lots to be updated on. With some temporary staff changes, we had the pleasure of meeting Julie Harrison who is relieving Mr. Bushe-Jones whilst he is on secondment to another local primary school. Ms Dawson updated us on the Pedagogical Framework (aka our values and goals as a school in regards to education) which is being updated and will be rolled out across our school into the new year.... As always, Mrs. Beard spoke with pride about the work of the whole school community both academically and the general culture in providing a space where our students can achieve, be inspired, and show respect. We are looking forward to welcoming some new families to school in Term 1, 2021 with over 50 letters of offer sent to 4yo Kindergarten families in the last week - I am sure we will make them all feel welcome. Mr. Gough provided the board with a briefing of the COVID-19 Safety plan for the up-coming faction carnival. A well thought out and considered plan - we thank all the teachers and staff for their hard work in keeping our children and the wider school community safe. Not only for the faction carnival, but throughout the school year, in general. The recommendations that have been put in place and managed by our school has meant that our children can have an uninterrupted education and enjoy days like their faction carnival. On behalf of Mrs. Beard, the board would like to thank the P&C and our school for their hard work and generosity in fundraising which has meant several upgrades for our school. Some, like the sound system in the undercover area we are already benefitting from. Other improvements will be made over the school holidays for our children to enjoy in Term 4. Thank you once again for your support. We appreciate the work Mrs. Parr and the team put forward with ensuring our school is good stewards of the funds we receive and thank all families for completing their voluntary contributions so far. If you are yet to complete your payments, or it slipped your mind, please speak to the office staff who will be able to let you know your balance, and complete your payment. Kind regards, Hayden Glass Parent Board Representative

13.01.2022 Good news everyone! As I mentioned in my last Blog, we will be proceeding with the Athletics Carnival on September 15th for the throws and jumps, and on Friday 18th for the main carnival. I have sought clarification from the COVID-19 team in the Department and they have a guide for schools to ensure that we are compliant with Phase 4. There will be restrictions on where parents may view the carnival. It is imperative that those adults attending do not go outside the area whic...h will be designated for their viewing. To keep within the guidelines parents and friends will not be permitted to go to bays, or visit their children during the carnival. Access to take photographs of the place dais will be limited. At lunch time though, families can share a blanket for a picnic lunch with 1.5m between families. Parents who attend will be responsible for maintaining the 1.5m recommended distance from others while they are watching the events. If you are unwell on the day you are asked not to attend. Parents who do not comply will be asked to leave the oval for the safety of other adults and your children. While we will send more information out at a later date closer to the events, it is important that we alert you to the requirements for you to attend. Please consider whether you are able to do them before you decide to attend. This note is also going out on Connect. You will find the COVID-19 planner we will be using as a guideline from the Department there. See more
