22.01.2022 Is your pet desexed? Pyometra is defined as an infection in the uterus. It's considered a serious and life threatening condition that must be treated quickly and aggressively, often costing hundreds of dollars. Pyometra can occur in any "entire" young to middle-aged females; however it is most common in older females. Prevention is simple - desex your pets (it's never too late!).... SAVE 10% OFF regular desexing prices for the month of September! Call now to book an appointment before spots run out! 5423 1303 | 4170 0022 | 4698 2520

15.01.2022 Pinkeye is a painful, debilitating condition that can severely affect animal productivity. It is a bacterial infection of the eye that causes inflammation, ulceration and potentially permanent blindness in affected animals. The infective organism is spread by flies and is highly contagious when the conditions are right. Most producers are familiar with pinkeye, however many do not know how to minimise its spread and treat it within a herd. TREATMENT: eye ointment (orbenin/opt...iclox), antibiotic injections, eye patches, veterinary treatment. We also recommend separating those affected from the rest of the herd to prevent the infection from spreading further. PREVENTION: avoid dusty yards (causes eye irritation and encourages infection spread), fly control (sprays, ear tags, pour-ons), weed control to avoid eye damage during grazing, early intervention & treatment.

10.01.2022 Desexing is HIGHLY recommended by all vets as a preventative measure for reproductive cancers and other medical conditions of the reproductive system. Male ENTIRE dogs are often prone to getting testicular and prostate cancer in their senior years. The photo below shows a cancerous testicle vs. a healthy testicle. Desex your pet to prevent these awful diseases!!... During the month of September we are offering 10% off regular desexing prices. Book now, before you miss out!

05.01.2022 Food for thought... We came across this dental poster comparing dental disease in dogs & cats to humans 5 reasons why good dental care is so critical to your pet's overall health: ... >> Preventing tooth loss. When the structures supporting the teeth become damaged or infected, the teeth loosen, causing severe pain when chewing. Good dental care will ensure that those teeth-supporting structures stay healthy and keep the teeth in place. >> Preventing bad breath. If a whiff of your dog's breath makes your nose hairs curl, it's time for some good dental care. When your pet has a healthy mouth and healthy teeth, bad breath won't be a problem. >> Preventing oral pain. Dental disease, especially when it's severe, can be quite painful (as it is for humans!). Keeping your pet's teeth and gums healthy will help prevent oral pain. >> Preventing organ damage. Bacteria in the plaque can enter the bloodstream and spread to the heart, kidneys and liver. This spread of bacteria, can damage organs and make your pet very ill. Good oral health will help prevent bacteremia and subsequent organ damage. If you're concerned about your pet's oral health, please give the clinic a call 5423 1303 | 4698 2520 | 4170 0022
