21.01.2022 Miranda enjoying life in the canopy, in the luxury of the world's most comfortable tree-sit (she said so herself!). Has forest defence ever been so comfortable? #BigCanopyCampout

19.01.2022 Forestry Corpse guilty again. This is all too common and unfortunately the EPA is under resourced and politically constrained. Awesome work by Peter Leo Harry in reporting the breaches. #TooPreciousToPlunder #BIOMF

18.01.2022 Actions happening now across NSW. We are at Ashfield Bunnings calling on them to stop selling wood from logged koala habitat. Call Bunnings on (02) 98467100 and ask them to stop stocking NSW Forestry Corporation native forest logs.

17.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE 28 November 2016 Tantawangalo Forest Protest Flares Again Logging has again been stopped in Tantawangalo State Forest following the discovery by SEFR of fresh evidence of illegal logging. A tree sit suspended 30m high is connected by steel cables to 3 machines halting the operation. ... On Thursday South East Forest Rescue (SEFR) again audited a small area of compartment 2433 and discovered 3 more rock outcrop breaches. This follows from the discovery last week by SEFR of breaches committed by the Forestry Corporation and their authorised contractors. It is clear that the Forestry Corporation are totally incapable at identifying and protecting these areas, said Mr Scott Daines, spokesperson for SEFR. The only one having problems with the interpretation of the licence condition is the Forestry Corporation. The EPA and SEFR are on the same page when identifying these outcrops In talks with the EPA last week SEFR demanded that the EPA suspend the operation and the remaining area be protected as compensatory habitat for the damage already done. The EPA told SEFR that the logging had been suspended. However, SEFR since discovered logging was continuing. We are not allowed to take Forestry to court, so the only option left for us is to stop the operation ourselves, said Mr Daines. 18 years ago, the rights of third parties like SEFR to take legal action against FCNSW for breaches of regulations was withdrawn and all enforcement action placed in-house with Government agencies. The Forestry Corporation is shielded from legal action by section 69ZA of the Forestry Act 2012. This prevents citizens from launching legal proceedings against Forestry Corporation for a breach of any Act or any law, nor can people try to restrain the Forestry Corporation from future breaches. Only the government can initiate legal proceedings. In 2011 the O’Farrell government cut and pasted s 40 from the Forestry and National Parks Estate Act 1998. This was against the advice of their Legislative Committee. This was meant to adequately protect the environment from destructive logging activities but this is clearly not working, said Mr Daines. That much of this logging is unlawful is confirmed by the Government itself. The Minister for the Environment Mark Speakman, needs to step up to the crease and stand up to the Forestry Corporation and get them to leave Tantawangalo immediately before more environmental vandalism occurs, said Mr Daines. After countless years and countless proven breaches, enough is enough.

13.01.2022 Logging has been halted by protests this morning in Olney State Forest, highlighting the destruction of wildlife habitat on National Threatened Species Day. Wh...ile Australia celebrates Threatened Species Day, Forestry Corporation are destroying habitat, placing already vulnerable species at greater risk. Forest Defence NSW are committed to taking action to defend the forests and wildlife that survived the fires. The whole world was watching as fire fighters and community members risked their lives to rescue animals from those fires. We cannot stand by and let them die now from logging machinery and habitat loss.

09.01.2022 BREAKING: Logging has been stopped at Bagawa State Forest this morning with a forest defender camped in a tree sit attached to a harvester and a loader - immobi...lising work for the day. "If we're to have anything left of these incredible environments to hand to future generations, it is imperative we stand as a community and advocate for their permanent protection", states the forest defender. This is a recovering forest. It’s recovering from fires and ongoing historical logging from Forestry Corp. It’s already home to Koalas, Yellow-bellied Gliders and Glossy Black Cockatoos - just imagine what it could become if Forestry Corporation left this recovering forest alone. If you're interested in defending these sacred forests - please get in contact with us to visit camp! Community power on the ground is necessary to protect Country.

08.01.2022 Southeast Forest Rescue NSW teams up with Kinglake Friends of the Forest Inc VIC to shut down logging operations in two states! Groups are calling for tax-payer dollars to be spent on bushfire relief and health initiatives during the COVID-19 crisis, not to prop up a collapsing industry backed by corporate interests. More to come!... Sussan Ley MP Gladys Berejiklian Dan Andrews

08.01.2022 Concerned community members have this morning walked into active logging coupes in NSW and Victoria, to highlight the need to protect fire impacted forests after the recent bushfires. South East Forest Rescue, Friends of the Forest Mogo and community members in Kinglake Friends of the Forest Inc in Victoria have all joined forces today to call for the end of native forest destruction. We are calling for the government to redirect taxpayer money spent on the forestry industry ...to be used for bushfire relief and healthcare. In Southern New South Wales 80% of the area available for logging has now burnt. Logging has begun in native forest areas for the first time since the wildfires that decimated vast tracts of the landscape over summer. These forests should be returned to the custodianship of the First Nations people, who are the rightful owners and have demonstrated for many thousands of years sustainable landscape management practices Kinglake Friends of the Forest Inc are condemning the current post logging burns which are causing dangerous levels of air pollution. Local GP Dr Wendy Bernet said Medical clinics are struggling to prepare for the onslaught of thousands of COVID19 cases, and lacking resources such as masks. The last thing we need is respiratory conditions to be aggravated by logging burn offs and further fires.

08.01.2022 SEFR kids blockading Tantawangalo State Forest today. Treesit cabled to 3 machines, no work today boys! Waiting for police rescue to come from Woolongong. BIOMF!

07.01.2022 New report from The Australia Institute on native forest logging. You are paying for the destruction!

05.01.2022 Four Bunnings Warehouse stores disrupted this morning across NSW - calling on Bunnings to stop selling native forest across all states, after they recently drop...ped contracts with VicForests. Customers expect Bunnings to safeguard Australia’s unique and sacred species. Yet Bunnings continues to turn a blind eye and help drive the destruction of critical koala habitat. Instead of driving this destruction, Bunnings could be part of a transition to a local and sustainable plantation timber industry. At ‘everyday low prices’, our native forests are worth more. Contact Bunnings and ask them to stop selling Forestry Corporation native forest logs! (02) 9846 7100

04.01.2022 Industrial logging for woodchips on the south coast of NSW is still smashing our forests - if the woodchipping boat is full of holes & sinking, what's the point of trying to bail-out with taxpayers v small bucket? 12 active compartments = 48 logging workers. Why is NSW govt allowing suffering $11M-$16M losses every year for so few? 36 million tonnes of woodchips is ENOUGH - our forests cant take any more - https://www.buzzfeed.com//17-of-the-cutest-australian-anim

04.01.2022 BREAKING: Today logging has been halted in Lower Bucca State Forest. One local man is currently locked on to a harvester, protecting one of the few remaining u...nburnt areas in Gumbaynggirr Country. He said, I have taken a day off work to be heard. I have no choice, this is nature fighting for nature. I would wish this all away. We just lost over 14 million hectares to fire and yet Forestry Corp are still knocking it to the ground. I grew up around here and have seen with my own eyes, the beauty of these forests and the critically important koala habitat that it is. #protecttheunburnt

03.01.2022 LOGGING HALTED IN SWIFT PARROT HABITAT Conservationists are taking action today by halting logging in Mogo State Forest, NSW and in the Eastern Tiers in Tasmania to protect the remaining habitat of the swift parrot. In the last week it was revealed that there are only 300 remaining swift parrots in the wild, and yet their habitat in both NSW and Tasmania is simultaneously being decimated by these unsustainable logging practices... In NSW 6 machines are currently immobilised with a tree sit, with more than 20 locals and other concerned citizens taking action to protect this forest In Tasmania, one person is currently locked onto a logging machine in order to halt work for the day and hold the space. As we enter bushfire season it's more vital than ever to protect the homes of endangered species like the swift parrot, as so much has already been lost from last summer's bushfires and continued logging. Today's actions are a collaboration between: Forest Defence NSW Bob Brown Foundation Friends of the Forest (Mogo) South East Forest Rescue

02.01.2022 A fantastic opportunity to learn about citizen science, forests and activism.

02.01.2022 A new forest defence camp has been set up today in Olney State Forest.

01.01.2022 BLOCKADE OF FORESTRY CORPORATION HEAD OFFICE ON INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FORESTS Media Release South East Forest Rescue (SEFR) and South East Region Conservation Alliance (SERCA) have today blockaded the head office of Forestry Corporation NSW in West Pennant Hills. A forest defender is suspended 30m in the air in a tree sit attached to the front gate, blocking vehicle access to the site.... The protest, coinciding with International Day Of Forests, is to highlight the unsustainable and uneconomic native forest logging industry in New South Wales. The 20 year Regional Forest Agreements (RFA's) which were supposed to provide a sustainable and competitive forest industry have totally failed and need to be torn up immediately said Mr Scott Daines of SEFR. There has been a continuing decline in biodiversity, water, carbon and timber volumes and on top of this the taxpayer is footing the bill, it is totally outrageous said Mr Daines. On International Day of Forests 2016 we should be protecting and celebrating our unique and diverse native forests along with all the ecosystem services that they provide, which are ever more crucial in the face of climate change. said Mr Daines. These forests are too precious to plunder. Logging them is also costing the people of New South Wales money, as each year this agency records a loss. From 2011 to 2013 this loss has been $44 million. said Mr Daines. Coupled with what we know about the decline in biodiversity, water quantity and quality and carbon stocks is yet another reason to stop this destructive industry. said Mr Daines. There are also other protest actions happening today for International Day of Forests in Coffs Harbour and Eden about the native forest logging industry.
