10.01.2022 Year 7 Transition to BCHS After a very long wait our Year 6 students attended their first transition day at BCHS. Students sampled taster lessons in Science, Maths, HSIE and English. They later played tabloid sports and were all at ease in their new environment. Thank you to all the staff at BCHS for making our students feel welcome. We look forward to the next transition day.

10.01.2022 Look out! Here comes Kindergarten 2021! We are so excited to welcome our first round of kindergarten transition students to the Southern Cross community. Students have waved goodbye to mums and dads and enjoyed visiting kinder classrooms, participating in kinder activities, meeting new friends and of course exploring the playground! Our whole school is thrilled to see your smiling faces and we cannot wait to get to know you better next year. Welcome!

08.01.2022 Year 3 students have been busy planting in our vegetable garden. Thank you to all who donated seeds.

07.01.2022 Bulletin for all students aspiring to be on the SRC- Student Representative Council for 2021. Due to the continuing Covid restrictions and the desire to start 2021 in a positive manner, we have decided to hold the SRC speeches and elections at the beginning of Week 3 in Term 1 2021. This will enable us to invite parents to listen to the speeches (hopefully) and for all students 3-6 to assemble to listen to the speeches and make informed choices when voting. The nomination forms will be distributed this term, so all eligible students will be able to consider and perfect their speeches over the Summer break.

07.01.2022 NAIDOC week kicks off with the Theme "Always was, Always will be". We are celebrating this week of recognition with in class activities, traditional games in PE, Indigenous art and music. Fun and engaging. We are half way through the last term of 2020 and what a weird and wonderful year it has been. Our community has stood up and continues to stand proud in the face of the challenges, as the old saying of "United we Stand" comes to mind. Our focus on Literacy, Numeracy and ...student well-being since returning from the extended homeschooling, has been reaping the rewards with the recent results demonstrating positive growth in these areas. We will be presenting new areas of change for 2021 in the coming weeks, such as; Mindfulness, merit system and term information and reporting processes that are more timely and track students through their progress. Watch this space and for emails. Another survey will be sent out about the merit system and reporting process in the coming weeks and we urge you to complete this to have your say and input into the direction of these key areas. Thank you again and again for the amazing support and resilience throughout this year.

06.01.2022 Welcome Kindergarten Transition Group 2! Kinder 2021 students from our second group have spent their first transition day getting to know our school and community. We are very excited to see you all again for the next 2 Thursdays.
