25.01.2022 Hi all Today we went for a short wander just off the hwy with intentions to see our beloved Alpine dingoes. Yay,we saw two dingoes. I had been talking to Zac Fo...rster and he had mentioned that they would have moved before the fact, pretty cluey buggers are the dingo, glad that has been the case. This area was hit so hard with the fires and to see life still inhabiting the area is amazing. Pics are a bit blurry as I didnt have much time to react when seeing them as they took off very quickly.... Kosciusko National Park Elevation approx 1490 metres. See more

21.01.2022 Pig Hunters: please be on the lookout for signs of African Swine Fever in pigs while hunting African Swine Fever (ASF) is deadly for pigs and is a notifia...ble disease. It has no cure and is continuing its spread throughout Asia, getting closer to Australia. How can hunters help? We need hunters in the front line to detect this devastating disease to assist our farmers and the community. More information, including images of what to look out for, are available in the Recognising exotic diseases of pigs Primefact on the DPI website - www.dpi.nsw.gov.au//Recognising-exotic-diseases-of-pigs.pdf See. Report. Protect. If you see sick or dead feral pigs, contact the Emergency Animal Disease Watch Hotline immediately on 1800 675 888.

20.01.2022 The biggest feral animal control program in NSW history is officially underway, with around 800 pests that have already been culled. Its a response to this years unprecedented bushfires, which left our wildlife more vulnerable to predators and extinction than ever before.

20.01.2022 Staff at the Australian Reptile Park have spent this morning working to protect animals and buildings after a major flash-flood hit during torrential rainfall. ...Animals have been relocated during the downpour, and the decision was also made to close the park for the day for safety reasons - the first time it has been closed since the 2007 flooding. Australian Reptile Park Director, Tim Faulkner, said, This is incredible! Just last week, we were having daily meetings to discuss the imminent threat of bushfires, just 8km away from the Park here in Somersby. Today, weve had the whole team out there, drenched, acting fast to secure the safety of our animals and defend the Park from the onslaught of water." [vision courtesy of Australian Reptile Park]

18.01.2022 "The timing on this is crucial we now know theres African swine fever in New Guinea only a boat trip away from Cape York." Former RuralCo boss appointed to lead fight against Australias 23 million feral pigs.

18.01.2022 Look at the condition of this old fella been feeding on goats for a while this was a challenging job with mobs of goats pigs and one smart old dog but I stuck to my plan and only deployed 4 traps many will say 4 traps to service 15,000ac aint enough but I disagree when your chasing old killing dogs like I do I find less is best and to get these fellas to place there foot on a 2x3 pan over 15,000 ac I think I do ok .

17.01.2022 Bowerbirds create elaborate structures to attract potential mates and place a variety of bright objects they collect in and around a bower, spending many hours arranging the collection. They are interior design undergrads. I just love these birds!

16.01.2022 The Dog Fence is one of the longest structures in the world and has been helping to protect Australia's livestock industry for generations. However, a number of... sections of the Dog Fence are more than 100 years old and in urgent need of replacement to stop the incursion of wild dogs. We've embarked on a once-in-a-generation $25 million rebuild of 1,600 kilometres of the fence. This rebuild will benefit the pastoral industry and supporting outback communities through reduced wild dog management costs, employment opportunities and choices about whether they choose to run sheep or cattle.

12.01.2022 This insignificant looking post is one of many which have been placed along the road where I live. Wed had many kangaroos and other wildlife killed after bein...g hit by cars. These posts are activated by car headlights shining on them and emit a loud buzzing sound thereby deterring wildlife from crossing the road. Several of us in the neighbourhood contacted Sunshine Coast Council re the problem and they listened and acted. Very impressed so far with no dead wildlife since they went in 2 months ago. Thank you Sunshine Coast Council See more

06.01.2022 Someone's excited! This bouncy little woylie was released back into the wild after a recent survey. The Australian Wildlife Conservancy says numbers of woylies... (brush-tailed bettongs) are increasing in the large feral predator-free area at the Mount Gibson Wildlife Sanctuary, on the northern edge of WA's Wheatbelt region. The native marsupials are spreading across the area following several reintroductions since 2015 and ecologists have some sound advice for interns helping them release the animals. "Woylies have a habit of launching out like little rockets... aim them at a clear spot and keep your face out of the way!" Australian Wildlife Conservancy intern Emily Drummond releases a Woylie post-survey. Video: Carly Moir / AWC.
