25.01.2022 A Christmas message . Merry Christmas and a very happy and safe 2021.

24.01.2022 I am somewhat early with post but tomorrow will be hectic. Brent will celebrate his 28th birthday tomorrow. So from his family and Kiana we wish him a very Happy Birthday. It is hard to remember the shy teenager who started the nursery 12 years ago. Have a great day mate.

24.01.2022 There were so many people talking about our week 1 lucky draw actually far more than we expected. Sadly of course there could only be one lucky customer. SO! we have decided to give you a second go at winning a large Zanzibar Gem. During the first trading week of August we will again give every purchase a ticket in the draw. Good luck.

21.01.2022 Well , so many people have been in during the last week or so for Tomato's, Capsicum etc. Both Brent and I have been warning of "late" frosts. Of course most people just laugh BUT check out Sunday's forecast. The forecast minimum is 1 degree. So if you have any of those sensitive Summer vegies or annuals already in your garden it would be very advantageous to cover them or more than likely loose them. These late frosts are not uncommon and just go to make our work as growers that little bit harder.

20.01.2022 Sorry everyone I had a seniors moment and forgot to tell you the price. 10 metres X 1 metre is $4.50.

20.01.2022 Maria and I visited her Dad at the Village he lives in at Clontarf on the Redcliffe Peninsular today. In a garden just across from my father - in - laws home I spotted this cracker of a gerbera. Doesn't it make you green with envy. Wait until you see the actual size of this flower.

19.01.2022 Well it has just dawned on me that not everyone would have seen the last ever Warwick Daily News and the ad we had within that publication. In that we announced that we will be reopening on Wednesday July 8th at 9.00 am. In the near future we will trade Wednesday to Sunday 9.00 am to 3.30 pm. When the COVID 19 situation is cleared we will consider trading on Tuesdays. Both Brent and I are well aware that we are still going to be drought affected but if we dont do it now it may not ever happen. So for the remainder of Winter and moving into Spring we will give it everything and fingers crossed we may be blessed with a "wet season".

17.01.2022 Reopening update: Today has been a busy day for us getting our new signs up. Over the years we have been at Bracker Road, people have always given us advice on signage. People are unaware how complicated it is to do signage at that location but below are our new signs for the nursery. I would like to thank Shane at We R Signs for listening to exactly we wanted and his prompt service. We highly recommend them for any signage work. So next time you are around 195 Bracker Road, check out our new signs. And a general reminder, we reopen on Wednesday the 8th of July.

17.01.2022 We are all very happy to see our page likes go past the magical 500 barrier. Thank you all for liking our page.

16.01.2022 Good evening everyone. Of recent time we have been a little slow with our posts. What a lot of people forget is we as a family often have other things going on besides our garden centre. Tonight we would very much like to pay tribute to a very special lady who left us at 8.40 am today. Brents Grandma and my Mother-in- law Coral lost her nearly three year battle with Cancer this morning. So as you may understand for the last few months we have driven thousands of kilometres t...o and from Redcliffe to support this amazing person. I am one of the lucky men who had a wonderful relationship with my mother-in-law and as a Grandmother she was in the "best of the best" category. We were very thankful that all of her family were able to be with her last night for one last family get together and today we were all able to say our farewells. So we will have a hectic week next week with her funeral but following this we will be happy to advise a date for our reopening. All of you that has lost someone will understand how we feel tonight but as my Mother-in-law would tell us .... "get on with it". Coral Ann Price 17/01/41 - 19/06/20 "Flying High". See more

16.01.2022 Strawberry punnets back in stock. Of recent times Strawberries have been a little difficult to come by in any shape.

14.01.2022 This weeks interesting fact.

14.01.2022 I am a little late with putting this post up but its better late then never. Southern Downs Garden Centre has officially reopened.

13.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there especially to my Dad (Ian). Without Dad, Southern Downs Garden Centre wouldnt be here today and we wouldnt have the range of Salvias that we do. Thanks Dad.

13.01.2022 It was great to see so many people both regular and new so far this week. Our family are thankful for your ongoing support. Tomorrow is the last chance to get a ticket in the large Zanzibar Gem draw. Every purchase is eligible to go in the draw. For those of you who like your Salvias we have forty (40) different varieties available now. Lets hope the next couple of days bring us all a few showers of rain.

13.01.2022 Gday everyone. We have just been out to cover our very young plants with frost cloth given tonights forecast of minus 2 degrees. Those forecasts are all based around the B.O.Ms set up at Hermitage so it could be colder here in town and South to the border. So if you have a plant that your fond of make sure you duck out side and give them some offering of protection. Following this cold I will ramp up seeding our Summer vegetables. If anyone wants anything in particular I am more hope than happy to seed forward orders. Just message on this page. Everyone has to remember that late frosts can always happen so Tomatos may need some protect for the first few weeks after planting. Please keep an eye out for a post or video tomorrow for an announcement regarding our business in Warwick.

11.01.2022 At last Salvia "Mirage" has played the game and I will have all nine (9) colours available from tomorrow. Mirage is the latest series to be released into Australia. The "Navajos" were probably the last smaller series to be released but there were a few issues in full sizes with them even though they were very good. Those issues seem to have been bred out of this shorter range and that lets them grow and flower at the same time. They are perfect borders and long lasting spot ...colour.I suppose most of all they are very frost hardy. The breeders rate it as a Zone 4 plant which gives it tolerance to minus 18 degrees.Salvia Mirage has appeared in a few retailers but they have only a few colours. The colours we have are (1) Cream (2) Pink (3) Soft Pink (4) Hot Pink (5) Cherry Red (6) Violet (7) Deep Purple (8) Neon Rose and (9) Burgundy. They will grow about 30 cm high and 30 - 40 cm wide. 09.01.2022 Every job needs a supervisor.

09.01.2022 Did you know we are agents for NetPro in Stanthorpe? Todays job was putting the roll of Frost Cloth and Shade Cloth up. We sell it by the metre as it works out more cost effective for you, the customer. At the moment we have Frost Cloth and 70% Shade Cloth. Not the easiest job putting that roll of shade cloth up alone. Tomorrow (time permitting) I will do a short video on some new products in the nursery, so keep an eye out for that video. And lets hope we get a shower or two across this weekend.

08.01.2022 Some tips for preparing plants for the coming heat ...

08.01.2022 Forgot to mention one thing in the previous video.

06.01.2022 Good afternoon gardeners. We are always happy to identify plants, insects or issues with plants but it is very difficult to do off a description, even though I will have a go at doing so but it isnt as accurate as I would like to be. When making an identification its best to have either a piece of the plant or the whole insect in front of me to make it easier and more accurate. However, if this isnt possible because you live away from Warwick, pictures are the next best th...ing. You can even send a picture via Facebook message to us and I will have a look at them that way or if you have my mobile number, you can send via text to me. When bringing bits of plant with a possible disease and insects to the nursery please place them in a jar, takeaway food container or ziplock bag to prevent spreading possible issues. For the purpose of identifying plants there are a few things that help me- 1) Flowers 2) Foliage 3) Stems These are the first 3 things I will look at. So if you are sending pictures through please keep this in mind. Brent.

06.01.2022 Christmas ideas for that person that is difficult to buy for.

05.01.2022 Good morning all. Just letting everyone know that we have decided not too open today due to today’s forecasted heat. This allows us to move water around to keep stock alive for when the heat finally breaks. We will reopen tomorrow as normal at 9am.

04.01.2022 Tool maintenance after pruning season.

04.01.2022 Hello gardeners. For those of you who dont get the Warwick Daily News, below is our last ever ad in a printed form of the Warwick Daily News. Yes, at the top of the ad is our reopen date. Also please note a change of trading hours- Closed Monday and Tuesdays Open Wednesday to Sunday, 9.00am to 3.00pm I am (Brent) looking forward to helping solve those pesky plant problems like I have done in the past as there are plenty of them around. Between now and the 8th of July we have a mountain of work to do so we may not post much between now and then but once we are back in the swing of things we will be more active in our posting, both written and videos.

03.01.2022 Hello everyone. Well we are 24 hours from reopening the garden centre. Both of us are looking forward to getting back in to the swing of our nursery once again. There was a moment when COVID 19 ramped up that we thought we were finished .... full stop. However, the wise ones in our family (Maria, Shannen and Karlie) put up a strong case to reopen. Most people were of the opinion we were both sitting at home, watching repeats of Blue Heelers and doing bugger all. However a lot... of the stock that we took to the nursery is our own growing that we have turned around in less than 75 days. So some of the lines are just a little smaller than normal above the media but they are strong in the pot. For those who have asked me in the last couple of months about Salvias I can now say we will have a few varieties to start off. We will never be able to return to the god old days with Salvias because I lost so much of my Mother Stock. We will have frost cloth on the roll and can cut any length required. I look forward helping you with your garden issues. See more

03.01.2022 I have decided I would put up a weekly fact about plants or garden related topics at the shop. This was last weeks. Brent.

01.01.2022 Every purchase made in our first week will get you a free ticket in a large Zanzibar Gem. We can promise you that you wont be inundated with e mails and texts. It will just be a thank you for your support.

01.01.2022 I do not have really big hands for a bloke BUT this is still a huge flower. It is a pup off a very old Gerbera that was purchased in Bundaberg a long time ago.
