15.01.2022 Box breathing is a tool used to find calm in chaos. How to Do It You can start with a box breath and expand into larger inhale-exhale ratios.... A box breath is a simple inhale to the count of four, using your diaphragm. You then exhale for a slow count of four. Be sure you expand your lungs completely, and fill them as much as you can. If your shoulders are shrugging into your ears, you are likely doing a ‘stress-breath’ which only keeps you in the fight-or-flight stage. This is a shallow breath that we normally do when we are agitated or depressed. Your stomach should expand, not just your lungs. This is because your diaphragm is moving down into your belly to allow your lungs to expand more fully. Once you can do this, you will change the ratio. You will start with a 4:8 inhale to exhale ratio and then move to 8:16, 10:20, 22:44, or even 30:80 etc. You don’t have to be advanced to get all the benefits of deep breathing. Simply have enough awareness to take control of your breath the next time a stressful situation arises, and you’ll be feeling less anxious, and calmer. It’s that simple. You can breathe yourself into peace, in three minutes or less. Read the rest of the article How to stay calm like a navy seal at Upliftconnect.com

11.01.2022 UPDATE FOR OUR MEMBERS - Tuesday 24.3.20 Chiropractic care has been classed an essential service. At this time our opening hours have remained unchanged. We are receiving constant updates and information from the Australian Health Department and Australian Chiropractors Association.... We will continue to strictly enforce the high cleaning and safety procedures, in addition to thorough screening protocols. PLEASE follow health guidelines: when you ENTER the practice please utilise the hand sanitiser in the waiting room or soap and water in the bathrooms, AS WELL AS WHEN YOU LEAVE. Health guidelines with regard to social distancing have been put in place and changes made to our waiting area. We are happy to advise that this area is in excess of the minimum requirements. Invoice payment is requested to be made via PAYWAVE contactless where possible and a copy of your invoice will be automatically emailed. Our booking schedule has been adjusted and unless there are unforeseen emergency cases, waiting times will be reduced. Note: We are still happy to have a chat and hopefully a laugh! Evidence shows that laughter and just a little bit of zen is a huge boost to our immune system! Thank you to all our wonderful customers who also provide this for us! The role chiropractic has to play in the current climate is one of importance. Bearing the load, and reducing an influx of certain complaints that may have otherwise called for a visit to the local GPs, or the emergency department. We look forward to continuing to deliver care to our community and do whatever we can to help during this time. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries and rest assured we will be in touch as soon as possible with any updates that may be required. Stay Safe, Happy & Healthy Brendan, Chris, Pam & Suz Southern Family Chiropractic
