25.01.2022 Whilst in hibernation for the winter, our thoughts have turned to our recent successful concert series titled "Around the World". We featured the wonderful voice of Nina Krezo, and were very excited to be able to perform the World Premiere of Paul Paviour's work "A Mighty Man of Music". We send our thanks to our dedicated and responsive audience, and to Mr. Chris Donaldson for these lovely photos. We will look forward to seeing you all in the Spring! - rehearsals resume at Bowral Memorial Hall on August 2nd at 7:15pm, we'll be at the Tulip Time Festival in Corbett Gardens on September 17th, and our final concert series for 2017 will be on November 11th and 12th at the Bowral Memorial Hall. 25.01.2022 It's time to announce that our next concert series is coming up on November 11th and 12th. Put a little "Spring" into your musical step by coming to hear a multitude of instruments featured in a variety of solo performances crossing many musical genres. Instrumental soloists include the fabulous Concert pianist Lisa Kawai, performing Leroy Anderson’s delightful Concerto in C for Piano, and we also welcome the vocal talents of Keva Abotomey who will be performing Saint-Preux’s wonderful piece entitled Concerto pour une Voix, amongst other works. Hope to see you there ! Saturday November 11th at 7:30pm and on Sunday November 12th at 2pm, at the Bowral Memorial Hall, Bendooley St Bowral.

25.01.2022 Our 2018 performance year commenced today at a beautifully sunny Australia Day ceremony in Berrima. Wonderful to be playing together again and looking forward to the Seniors Festival concert on April 8th and our "Out of this World" concert series on May 26th and 27th -details to follow - it's going to be an exciting year of music !!

21.01.2022 For fans of music by Holst, Queen, John Williams and Andrew Lloyd Webber - put this date in your diary- Sunday May 26 ! Come to the Bowral Memorial Hall and hear some epic music reflecting all things that are larger than life. 20.01.2022 We are really looking forward to our concert series commencing TONIGHT at the Bowral Memorial Hall at 7:30pm and 2pm tomorrow. Come travelling with us to exciting musical destinations including a stopover for the World Premiere of Paul Paviour's piece "A Mighty Man of Music" - in memorial to the legacy of Mike Butcher. 19.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone !! We were lucky enough to commence our 2017 activities with a wonderful lunch at the home of our very generous patrons Garry and Nerida Barnsley. We enjoyed a fabulous time and are extremely grateful for the encouragement and support of these truly terrific people. Thanks Garry and Nerida !!

19.01.2022 November 11 - The Southern Highlands Concert Band presents Pack up your Troubles ! at Bowral Memorial Hall (2pm) On November 11,2018, the Southern Highlands Concert Band will commemorate the centennial anniversary of Armistice Day with a program that is both reflective and nostalgic in sentiment. The music will include popular songs from the two World Wars featuring the wonderful vocalists Noni Hansen and Stephen Wheatley, whilst the second half of the concert will feature... the music of the sensational big bands that entertained Australians and our allies throughout the Second World War. With music by composers such as Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, and John Williams, this will certainly be an afternoon to remember. Tickets: $25 Adult, $5 Students/Children, Group bookings available. 18.01.2022 Thanks to our wonderful friend and photographer Chris Donaldson, we are delighted to share with you some photos from our very successful "Fun, Films and Fairytales !" concert at the Bowral Memorial Hall with the fabulous Keva Abotomey and some of the fantastic students from Bandemonium. It was a terrific afternoon of musical fun with a brilliantly enthusiastic capacity audience. Our thanks to everyone who helped make it such a huge success !! Our next concert will be on November 11 at the Bowral Memorial Hall at 2pm - more details to follow soon!

17.01.2022 Yesterday's concert was a fantastic sold-out success !! We send our heartfelt thanks to our tremendously talented soloists Noni Hansen and Stephen Wheatley and to our fabulously enthusiastic and loyal audience. Photos to follow but until then another wonderful concert is coming up - be sure to put November 25 in your diary. This will be a joint concert with the SHCB and the Sydney Wind Symphony featuring the Trumpet soloist Jenna Smith (Trumpet Fellow with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship program). Don't miss these two ensembles in concert together !

16.01.2022 Hello Friends ! We thought we would share with you some of the lovely photos taken by Mr Chris Donaldson at our very successful Seniors' Concert held at the Bowral Memorial Hall on March 12th 2017. In a celebration of "Pop Music" we enjoyed the delightful vocal talents of Keva Abotomey and our own wonderful "DJ", Mr Warren Barnett. Especially thrilling for us was to have our fabulous Patrons Garry and Nerida Barnsley in attendance to graciously accept on behalf of the Black Dog Institute, a cheque donation from the Band. We are very proud to be able to support our community in this way, and we offer our thanks to our loyal and dedicated audience for their participation in this project. Watch this space for our next concerts...... "Around the World with the Southern Highlands Concert Band" May 27th and 28th !!!

11.01.2022 Calling all stargazers!! We had a fantastic time last night performing our "Out of this World !" concert to an appreciative and enthusiastic audience. Last performance today - come join us for an afternoon of popular music by stellar musicians. Tickets available at the door.



10.01.2022 Many of the photos that we share with you on Facebook have been taken by the very talented Mr. Chris Donaldson. This coming Sunday July 30th, Chris is opening his own wonderful exhibition "Music to my Eyes" at the Sturt Gallery in Mittagong at 11am. We can't wait to see his very extensive and creative work and we wish him every success !

10.01.2022 Our first outing this year has been as part of the official Australia Day program for the Wingecarribee Shire Council, at the beautiful town of Berrima. It was a wonderful way to start the day - performing with "Sing Australia", and welcoming some of Australia's new citizens.

September 9 at 2pm, Bowral Memorial Hall, Bendooley St Bowral The Southern Highlands Concert Band presents a fun afternoon concert for all the family that will feature music from films such as Cinderella and Pirates of the Caribbean alongside an assortment of pieces associated with fairytales and magic. The emphasis will be on having fun within the music with activities to keep everyone entertained as well as opportunities to interact creati...vely with the performance. Joining the SHCB will be some exciting special guests - superstar songstress Keva Abotomey, and students from the local primary school music program, Bandemonium who will delight with their exuberant instrumental music amidst an afternoon of imagination and merriment. Performing the music of Gustav Holst, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, David Bowie and many more, our audience will be transported to the places reflecting the human fascination with the enormous scale and possibilities of the universe. 05.01.2022 Terribly exciting - We just finished our very last rehearsal before the "Concerto!" concerts this weekend at the Bowral Memorial Hall. Wonderful to hear Lisa Kawai playing the "Concerto for piano in C' by Leroy Anderson, and you might recognise these fabulous people - they are some of the featured soloists that will also be performing for our audiences - April Butcher, Mark Biasutti, Gay Scanlon, David Ricketts, Karen Webb, Michelle Biasutti and Richard Gawned. We are so proud of you all and delighted to be able to enjoy your wonderful talents throughout this concert series.

01.01.2022 We congratulate our friend Dr Allan Beavis (OAM) on becoming the Wingecarribee Shire Council 2017 Citizen of the Year! A very well deserved accolade after many years of work in the fields of education and music. Dr Beavis has been an inspiration to many here in the Southern Highlands, where he continues his tireless work to encourage, support and promote music in the community. We say thank you Allan, and Bravo !!
