15.01.2022 News and Updates We learned only today that doubles has not been permitted as yet under stage 3. We have asked Table Tennis Tasmania to look at this ruling again. Sorry, no doubles allowed until further notice. Other points:... - KSC will be open Saturday 9am to 12 noon, closed Sunday this weekend - Bookings are not required for the stadium after 12 noon on Friday 26 June The rules after 12 noon Friday 26 June are: singles only (all tables) but practice pass holders can just turn up and take a spare table. Changing singles partners during a session is allowed. If tables are full, players waiting must observe social distancing. All players must be reasonable and swap with a waiting player if they know they want to play.

The format will be a 'practice roster' whereby players will be placed in 2-person teams. This will be especially good for anyone who hasn't played the 2-person format to see what it's like. Singles are played to best of 7 games and doubles are best of 5. The night should end around 9.30 pm. Players will be placed in teams according to their grade as much as possible. Players must arrive before 7pm (strict cut-off) so the teams can be decided. Players not arriving by then will have to practise only, depending on numbers (the maximum number is 40). Cost is the usual $8 and $4 for under 18.

11.01.2022 Good evening, sorry for late notice, however the organised fun night is cancelled due to snow at the organisers house. You are still welcome for a practice hit.

08.01.2022 News and Updates Return to Play Dear members,... Following the announcement of stage 2 easing of restrictions, I wanted to update you on the return to play situation. At this stage, it looks as though Kingborough Sports Centre will reopen on 15 June. Also Table Tennis Tasmania has submitted a return to play plan to the state government, on behalf of all Tasmanian clubs. We anticipate this will be approved in the next few days. We've missed seeing you at the stadium and are keen to reopen, but it won't be back to normal for a while yet. During the initial phase, opening times will be for nominated sessions with bookings required. Numbers will be limited to 20 and only members with practice passes will be allowed, not the general public. There will be hand sanitising and social distancing protocols. In the next newsletter, we hope to be able to provide details such as session times, how to book and COVID-19 guidelines. Best wishes, Tom Randle President PS please leave a message here if you wish to become a member and we will contact you re details and costs. Thankyou.

06.01.2022 Table Tennis Restarts - Stage 2 We are pleased to announce that our stadium will be reopening this coming Thursday 18th and Friday 19th June. This will be followed by bookings available to practice pass holders next week. The centre will be closed over this weekend (20th-21st). Your committee has been working hard over the last month preparing for our return to play. A plan has been put in place to slowly and safely resume table tennis, which I know we are all looking forward... to. There are going to be some new rules and guidelines for a while which everyone will need to play their part in upholding. Getting to this point has not been easy, there has been a lot of coordination behind the scenes between our association and stakeholders from all levels of government. We are hoping the Stage 2 restrictions are not in place for long and that we can continue the return to normality with restrictions easing further. Here’s what you need to know: If you don't have a booking, you cannot play. If you turn up without a booking and there are empty tables, you cannot play. The number of people allowed in the stadium is strictly limited to 12 players and we can only open a maximum of 6 tables initially at any time. No booking, no play. Doubles play is not allowed, you must book your sessions and practise with one other player only. You cannot swap partners or practise with anyone other than the person you have booked your session with. To make a booking contact Chris Hooper via [email protected] Available session times are: WEEKDAYS Monday to Friday mornings: 9am - 10.45am; 11am - 12.45pm; 1pm - 2.45pm; 3pm - 4.45pm. When you arrive at the stadium, you will need to confirm your booking at the KSC counter, then with the STTTA volunteer supervisor in the stadium before you can play. 03.01.2022 Update from Table Tennis Australia State/Territory Associations, TTA Life Members, TTA Hall of Fame Members, TTA Board Sub-Committees TTA regrets to inform that all 2020 National Championships, scheduled for November/December in Traralgon, have been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.... TTA has continued to monitor the situation and has been in ongoing dialogue with medical professionals over the past 6 months. After weighing up all options, the decision to cancel the event was made due to: 1) There is uncertainty around whether Victoria’s COVID-19 situation will sufficiently improve to enable events of this size to be held. 2) It is not currently possible for all States/Territories to travel into and out of Victoria and there is uncertainty around when this will change. 3) The feedback provided by competitors across the various events in the most recent survey highlighted that a large percentage of competitors will not participate this year due to COVID-19 concerns (between 33%-48%). Although there is some likelihood that the COVID-19 situation will improve by the time the events were supposed to commence, it is recognised that competitors, State/Territory Associations and TTA need sufficient time to effectively prepare for the events. TTA considered whether a change of venue was feasible, however this is not possible given no States/Territories have fully open borders to all other States/Territories and vice versa and there is no likely timeframe around when this will change. TTA apologises for any inconvenienced caused by cancelling the events, however we are hopeful that all stakeholders will understand and appreciate the unique circumstances. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the National Championships in 2021. In the meantime, please look out for one another and stay safe.

02.01.2022 Important Notice - Sunday Practice Sessions Due to a reduction in KSC operating hours starting this Sunday, we are trialling opening the stadium ourselves. From this Sunday 27 September the stadium will be opened by STTTA at 2pm. The remainder of KSC will stay closed until KSC staff arrive at 4pm. If you need to use the toilets or change rooms you will need to collect a key from Ian Weller to unlock the sliding door, and then lock it when you return to the stadium and return the key to Ian.
