15.01.2022 Handy Hedge Trimming Tips. Follow these handy tips to get the best from your hedge trimmer.... Keep It Sharp - Keep your blades sharp. If cut branches appear ragged or light in colour it may mean your blades are blunt and tearing rather than slicing. Keep it Clean - Sap builds up on the blades of your hedge trimmer after pruning plants. This can set like glue. Using a solvent on your blades after use can help to keep your blades in top condition.... Keep it in Order - Cut the vertical sides of a hedge first. Using an upward and downward sweeping motion. This will mean you do not have to hold your hedge trimmer above your head for long periods of time. Keep it Safe - Always make sure that the safety instructions that come with your hedge trimmer are followed. STIHL also offers a range of protective gear and clothing for safe work.
