23.01.2022 The Church is called to provide a place for Believers to partner together for the sake of the Gospel. Building friendships intentionally creates depth in a Church community, vanquishing division and increasing the discipleship impact one to another.

18.01.2022 We take this opportunity to remember all those who have fought so sacrificially for our great nation. We reflect on their heroism, their courage and the choice that many made knowing they would never return! At 11 am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The allied armies had driven the German invaders back, having inflicted heavy defeats upon them over the preceding four months. In November the Germans called for an armistice (suspension of fighting) in order to secure a peace settlement. They accepted allied terms that amounted to unconditional surrender. 07.01.2022 Southern Lights Church Live Over the last six or so weeks we have heard from Ps Caleb and other Southern Lights people about various aspects of church community. Sam Kidney spoke on mentoring, Ps Caleb spoke on the cost of discipleship, the role of small groups amongst other things. Today Ps Andrew builds on this and looks at a few key sections from the Bible on this topic.... Let’s start with a short point following on from Sam’s message on mentoring, and that is the difference between four associated but separate concepts. These concepts are: Mentoring, Coaching, Training and Counselling. NONE of them are permanent, and it is only rarely that they should be long-term. If we set ourselves to have just one life-long mentor, we will develop a very unhealthy relationship and we will not grow as much as we could or should. ALL of them require us to recognise that the solution is OUTSIDE of ourselves. None will work if independence is our priority. ALL of them require us to take ownership of our growth. THAT is our responsibility. Often it is not solutions that are provided, but simply better questions, questions that allow us to identify what needs to be addressed rather than just the symptoms of what needs to be addressed. Then, once the questions have been clarified, we can get input into possible solutions and work out will work FOR US. For this to happen we need to be surrounded by people who are: 1. Committed to our growth 2. Willing to cross the line and speak into areas requiring growth 3. Willing, accessible, and able to provide that input This is WHEN we need others. This is WHERE we need authentic community. This is WHY we have small groups to provide an environment where this can happen.
