15.01.2022 The Southern Aurora Memorial committee has recently sourced the original gates and panels from the Violet Town goods yard, where the superphosphate shed area no...w is. The men's shed have agreed to refurbish them when they can reopen and we'll be looking to find a small grant to buy new timber and bolts so we can make a fence along Cowslip street and at the back of the gardens. If anyone has a photo of the goods yard which shows the stock yards in any great detail, could we borrow it to scan it so in the future we can make up another information board. Thanks Thanks to the Binks family who originally rescued the yards from almost certain death by cremation and have donated them back to the gardens. See more

13.01.2022 Anybody recognise this? This device is in the Aurora garden & will become a feature. What we need is some stories about how it worked & when we put it on display we can provide some info about safe-working of trains in the Victorian Railways. Let’s know what you know

09.01.2022 Great article in the Euroa Gazette 2 weeks ago about Charlie Mead. He loved his time working on the railways & even has a little booklet about his stories. Charlie has been a great supporter of the Aurora project & has no shortage of project ideas & railway tales. Cheers and thanks Charlie & your old rail mates, Bruce C.

08.01.2022 Thankyou to the mystery person who added these.
07.01.2022 Mary Cumming was in full teacher’s voice as she entertained a full VT Hall with her father’s battalion song from WW1. Shows some of the humour & music people ...at the time used to deal with their huge challenges. If you thought Mary was a quiet retiring type, then you missed out seeing her when she took the floor!! 05.01.2022 It’s a week now since the tragic derailing of the XPT at Wallan with two fatalities & many injuries. This event has shaken up many people, including the Southern Aurora committee & the whole community at Violet Town and surrounds. As learned in 1969, a serious incident like this has a very broad impact on the community including passengers, the railway fraternity, police & volunteer emergency workers, investigators etc .... and of course their families. Let’s all reach out & support each other in positive ways and strive to prevent things like this happening again. Condolences to family and friends of those two people killed in the crash, from the Violet Town community.
