25.01.2022 Thank you Diana Butler Bass - a story of great relevance within the context of Australian society right now. And a call to reaffirm the practice of hospitality that has been a formative part of of our history.

24.01.2022 Thanks Sarita Mcharg ... your music certainly enriched our worship and made a superb contribution to our Multicultural Festival of Creative Arts. Thanks for sharing your talent and passion with us.

23.01.2022 This week’s message. Grief is our teacher. What are you learning and growing in this season?

23.01.2022 A great privilege to conduct the ANZAC Day commemoration at Cheltenham Manor this morning. Thanks to Defence Force Chaplain-in-training Christopher Buckley-Wilkshire for his reflection, and to Sue, Noel, Rex, Lorraine, Claire, Ailsa and Anne for their assistance. A special event for us and for the 60+ residents in attendance.

23.01.2022 Our Biggest Morning Tea event, in partnership with Cheltenham Community Centre, raised a total of $354 for the Cancer Council. With over 60 in attendance, a sumptuous morning tea, a game of 'Tea Bingo', a raffle and loads of fun, it was a morning to enjoy. Thanks to Arna and the CCC staff team, the hospitality group, volunteers and all who attended for another successful Biggest Morning Tea.

22.01.2022 Very exciting morning at Southern today. Great worship gathering including a special musical treat from Ruby Page and Scott Harrison. Then our new attenders lunch - 30 new attenders welcomed from the past 18 mths! A wonderfully diverse group of people.

20.01.2022 International Day of Peace today and we were pleased to host an interfaith gathering of prayer for peace. Eight different faith groups represented through readings and prayer. We walked the labyrinth as part of our reflective practice, and we shared a meal to enjoy each other's company. A positive gathering for peace.

18.01.2022 Two significant Christmas worship gatherings at SCCC, a gentle reflective gathering on Christmas Eve and a joyous celebration of word and song on Christmas morning. Thanks to all who contributed and helped make our Christmas meaningful and inspirational.

17.01.2022 Hope, peace, joy and love to all our friends on this wonderful Christmas Day. God is with us! Always! Great to celebrate that in the old Chapel this morning.

15.01.2022 Join us for our special Easter Services Easter changes everything

15.01.2022 SCCC and the Coronavirus Update: How the world has changed in such a short time. We do hope and pray that you and your families are staying well. As you know from our email yesterday, there will not be any face to face Worship Services in the near future or any other meetings or gatherings.... Our usual Easter programs and services are on hold as well - Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, The Walk of Witness and Easter Day have all been cancelled. We are considering ways to keep in touch with you, including through Facebook, technology and other media, phone calls and the old fashioned way of letter writing. Steve Jackson and Anne Spoelder are looking at ways to bring you reflections on our Journey to Jerusalem.

14.01.2022 It's been a challenging year for all, you're not alone! Take some time to look after your mental health. Southway counsellors are here to help; listening ears, inclusive, non judgemental, affordable and available https://www.southerncofc.org.au/southway.php

14.01.2022 Another significant Easter journey Southern Community Church of Christ: Monday, evening focus on Mary of Bethany; Tuesday, Jesus in the garden; Wednesday, Simon of Cyrene. The table was set for the moving Maundy Thursday gathering and stayed set for our Easter Day celebration of life. And the risen Lord was certainly present at the Dawn gathering on Beaumaris beach. Thanks to all who led and participated in our diverse Easter worship events

13.01.2022 Perhaps it has to do with being in South-East Asia at the moment, but this situation really is something we ought to be more aware of. Thanks David Ayliffe Celebrant for your post.

13.01.2022 Sunday 17th December at 10 am - the SCCC Advent production 'What Child Is This?' will tell the story of Jesus' birth through the eyes and hearts of some of the characters central to the story. A simple yet profound dramatic presentation. All welcome!

12.01.2022 What a great day we had at the annual SCCC and Cheltenham Community Centre Children's Festival on Saturday. Wonderful to see so many happy faces and families having fun together. Rides, scrapbooking, Squeek the Clown, Bettsy the Cow, sausages galore, sand art, face painting, Lego, balloons and more. Thanks to all who made it such a success - staff, volunteers and the 500 plus people who came along.

12.01.2022 A wonderful letter from a beautiful soul. It may be about the plight of the Rohingya people in Myanmar, but surely it has real relevance in the Australian context - think refugees, indigenous Australians, GLBTI couples and more.

08.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago we celebrated the 160th Anniversary of the Cheltenham/Southern Community Church of Christ. A wonderful journey that began with a group of faithful and determined pioneers and has continued through the generations to create today's vibrant, diverse and progressive community of faith. We heard some great stories from long-term members and more recent arrivals on May 7. And we welcomed ten more people who have joined our community just this year. If you are interested in a brief history of our 160 years you can check our website and follow the links to Our Heritage.
