16.01.2022 In the swirl of uncertainty we are all faced with in these unparalleled times, we at Southern Coast Legal remain steadfast in our commitment to our community. The health, wellbeing and safety of our clients and all members of our community comes first. We have implemented appropriate policies and procedures to help protect our clients, community members and staff against the spread of COVID-19 and allow us to continue to provide quality legal services and help our clients ...navigate through this challenging situation. All Federal and South Australian Courts and Tribunals continue to operate. We are up to date with all new Court procedures implemented to protect all Court users and are well equipped to advocate for our clients in all Courts and Tribunals as required. Cadell Street Chambers remains open at present and as much as we enjoy welcoming anyone into our offices at any time, to enable our doors to remain open, we encourage you to call us prior to attending our office. We are able to conduct meetings via telephone, conference call and Skype and many documents can be signed electronically. For signing of documents that must occur in person, such as Wills, Power of Attorney and Advance Care Directive documents, we can accommodate face-to-face appointments in a safe environment and ask that you follow our protocols whilst you are visiting us. You can contact Anna and Emily (Milli) on 08 8555 5007 during business hours or at [email protected] anytime we are here to help.

09.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE.... As much as we love our ‘pop-in’ community and ‘our door is always open’ philosophy, for the safety of our staff, our clients and our community we are implementing a new procedure. To enable us to continue to serve you please give us the ‘heads up’ that you’ll be stopping by. We are still here to help and our door is still open - just gives us a call or shoot us an email to let us know when we can welcome you ! Thank you

09.01.2022 No words can express the devastation the bushfires have had to the communities, wildlife and environment across South Australia and the rest of our Country - and the fires continue to burn and destroy. Southern Coast Legal is inspired by the incredible efforts and selfless acts of ordinary people, organisations and communities across Australia during this time of heartbreak and destruction. Everyday people, in uniform and in plain clothes, fighting fires, offering comfort ...and support, offering food and shelter, tending to the sick and displaced and caring for our vulnerable wildlife. We are proud to be a part of our community on the Fleurieu and proud of how our community has shown compassion to others in response to such tragic events. Southern Coast Legal has registered to volunteer to provide free legal assistance to victims of disasters and disaster affected communities. In this small way we can support our local and wider South Australian communities. If you or anyone you know has been affected by these disasters, and needs free legal advice, please contact the Law Society at [email protected] or for urgent matters on 1300 366 242. We urge everyone to get involved in any way that they can. Every bit counts! -- Anna & Emily x

07.01.2022 Last year, women made up more than half of SA's Legal Profession for the first time in history! It so happens to be our first FB post on International Women's Day! Southern Coast Legal's team is: Anna our Principal and Emily and Kimberley our Graduate Solicitors. We thank the community for supporting us since Anna opened in 2016 and look forward to continuing to provide legal services for our local community. ... Enjoy the long weekend!

06.01.2022 We just heard an inspiring speech from Joana Fuller, the second ever Woman to be appointed as an Australian Defence Force Judge Advocate and Defence Force Magistrate. Educated and still residing in Adelaide, she is doing an incredible job of representing South Australian Women.

05.01.2022 Not something you see everyday! This week Anna Jones' sister posted a picture on Facebook of her Partner and his work mate with a specimen of a rare sunfish (Mola Mola fish) they found washed up 25 kilometres east of the Murray Mouth in the Coorong National Park. Her post caused a social media 'frenzy' that caught the attention of numerous commercial media organisations keen to also share the amazing 'catch'. ... Have you ever wondered who owns the image you post on social media? Can someone re-upload your picture and write their own post? Can they 'steal' your post? Well no. Social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram have general terms and conditions that users must accept upon creating a user profile on the platform that protect the author and their individual images and words to be protected by copyright laws applicable to the users country. In Australia it is the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) that applies and such individual images and words cannot be used without permission of the author. However, the post as a whole can be 'shared' by other users of the social media platform without any permission from the author. Just as we are sharing this post with all of you! The terms and conditions of the platform may also allow the sharing of the post with another platform without requiring permission as long as the post remains the same. Please note that you need to read the Terms and Conditions of the social media site closely to ensure that you and your images are protected.
