25.01.2022 On Wednesday, a host of our other Residential Care homes went to great efforts to help residents pay their respect on Remembrance Day. Our staff members worked collaboratively to find creative ways to help every resident during the symbolic day. 24.01.2022 Who loves alpacas? Residents at Sandpiper Lodge Residential Care received plenty of love from two young alpaca boys, Archie and Leroy (6 and 7 months respectively), who visited the home with Trudy, a local lady. They spent the morning at Sandpiper Lodge and shared so much love, kisses and even gave a ride to one lucky lady. Thanks Archie, Leroy and Trudy for visiting!

22.01.2022 What a special way to remember Recently, Mount Carmel Residential Care unveiled its beautiful Memorial Tree, as a way to remember former residents who have passed away. The tree was donated and hand made from driftwood collected on the Yorke Peninsula. Staff also placed a couple of angels and fairy lights around the sculpture, so the residents have a place where they can see and acknowledge the residents who have passed away.

21.01.2022 Today, residents at Bucklands and The Pines Lodge Residential Care observed a beautiful Remembrance Day service. They also created a touching display to remember all those who fought bravely and sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. We will remember them. Lest we forget.

17.01.2022 Wishing everyone a happy Mid-Autumn Festival Recently, our residents at The Pines Lodge Residential Care celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival which is a big day for the East Asian and South East Asian communities. Also known as the Moon Festival or Harvest Moon Festival, it is a day for families to enjoy dinner, light lanterns and eat mooncakes together. To celebrate the day, residents made paper lanterns and had discussion about the full moon sighted last week and learned why it is called the harvest moon.

11.01.2022 Residents across our Residential Care homes participated in a variety of activities during Australia Day. Highlights from the day included playing indoor seated volleyball, learning Aboriginal dot paintings, competitions and creating artwork using heart shaped fingerprints on an Australian map.

09.01.2022 During a reminisicing session, one of our residents brought up a game called Squatter, which staff members managed to source with the help of the Southern Cross Care Community Foundation Grants program. The residents had a fun time playing the game last week, which is based on real life farming and requires a blend of luck and strategy. During the game, they have to protect their farm while overcoming adversities including droughts, bushfires and floods. 08.01.2022 While Christmas may be over, we'd still like to give a special shoutout to the creative team at The Mornington Retirement Village for giving residents at the Shearwater Apartments a Christmas to remember Last year, staff members worked collaboratively to create 22 personalised calendars using photos that were of sentimental value to the residents and their families. These calendars were then gifted to the residents during their Christmas high tea - which brought many smiles to their faces. Group Manager Education, Clinical Care and Engagement, Kate Weger, was announced the winner of the Age Services Innovator of the Year Award. The award is part of the 2020 innovAGEING National Awards, which is a network designed to encourage and accelerate innovation in the sector. Kate was recognised for her work in establishing the Wou...nd Champion Program, a holistic approach to wound management and prevention, providing excellent service that promotes quality of life. We were also finalists in the HESTA Excellence Awards (Aged Care) for two awards; Outstanding Organisation for providing healthcare for residents using Person Centred Software, and Team Excellence for our Wound Champions Team. Kiyan told us about why he loves being a Podiatrist and working with us. I love being a Podiatrist because there is a lot of variety in my work... - in a day you can see clients for a few different things including general care, biomechanical issues, toenail surgery, wound care and even dry skin, it’s always fascinating. The conversations during treatments are always interesting too, as clients often have stories and love sharing their experiences which are very humbling.
