19.01.2022 As the weather heats up today, take precautions to avoid heat-related illness. @HealthyWA have some tips to help prevent heat-related illness: 1. Check on older, sick and frail people who may need help dealing with heat.... 2. Never leave anyone even briefly in a closed car, including pets. Temperatures inside a car can rise to more than 60 C in just a few minutes. 3. Drink plenty of water and fluids (If your doctor normally limits your fluids or you are on fluid tablets, check how much to drink while the weather is hot). 4. Limit or avoid alcohol. 5. Stay indoors, if possible in air-conditioning. 6. Take a cool shower or bath. 7. Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing. 8. Apply sunscreen at regular intervals while outdoors. 9. 14.01.2022 Each year we run a Christmas food appeal to assist our clients living in the community who are facing financial hardship in the lead up to Christmas. This year our wonderful ILU residents and staff rallied together to donate food items and we were able to help 40 people this year. Thank you for your generosity and kindness.

As part of an initiative with Guide Dogs WA, Clover spends her weekdays at Tony Quinlan Respite Centre, brightening up the smiles of clients, while providing entertainment and friendship. Companion dogs provide so many physical, emotional and cognitive benefits for seniors and those living with dementia. 03.01.2022 As National Gardening Week 2020 draws to a close, we reflect on the great joy that gardening provides, as well as the many social and health benefits associated with digging in and being a green thumb. We celebrated National Gardening Week at Success Village, with a visit from Beekeeper Ian, from Bee2Bee Perth. Ian spoke about the vital contribution bees make to gardens and crops, how you can support bees to pollinate, as well as some interesting insights about the value of a Queen Bee. Ian kindly gave guests local honey from Bindoon to take home. It was a wonderful opportunity to extend the gardening culture beyond Success Village and into the wider community.
