02.01.2022 EYES ON THE OLYMPIC GAMES, TOKYO 2020 ! We have THE BEST field ever assembled at Wallaby Hill for the CCI4*L class as our competitors take the last opportunity ...this year to achieve their MER (minimum eligibility requirement) to be considered for selection for their National Team for the Tokyo Olympic Games. We'll profile a number of these human and horse athletes over the next couple of days but today we say 'Gidday' (or Kiaora) to our great mate Clarke Johnstone and 'Balmoral Sensation' (aka Ritchie or Snowman'). This pair placed 5th at Badminton in 2016 to secure their Olympic Team spot for New Zealand at the Rio Olympics and placed 6th individually, the best of the Kiwi Team. But they now have their eyes on Tokyo. So, will that look in the mirror as they warmed up today on the outdoor Dressage Arena a figurative look in the 'rear vision mirror' ? Or will one of the Olympian’s in the field or one of the incredible up and comers chase down this Champion team? It's going to be a very special 3 days, there is so much on the line. Come and see this extra-ordiniary property, these incredible combinations, the very best we have ever seen. With 33 talented CCI4*L &S on course and exceptional CCI1*, CCI2* and CCI 3* fields and then, there's 70 EvA 95 combinations. We are excited!! Here's a look at Clarke in warm-up and a couple of the CCI4* long obstacles on course. Take a look at the 16th obstacle the A,B,C,D combination (uphill) that culminates at the 'Hedgehog'. How many might have a break at the Wobbly Hill Bar at the Tarraleah Park obstacle? The Rose-Hip Vital Equine ditch palisade is HUGE, a big question before our competitors go to the PSE Electrical Angled Ditch Brush then hopefully don't stop to make a call on the Wallaby Hill 'mobile phone' !! The tenth obstacle, the OTTO Sport Australia Shelter, Eucalpyt Drop (it's huge!) and the very skinny skinny triple brush will be without a doubt a big question - there is an option but it's a Mike E-S course, it'll be tough on time, direct and forward is the plan for all on course! There's so many amazing places to watch the best of the best go around.
