25.01.2022 Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Civic Centre in Moss Vale will re-open tomorrow, Monday 9 November, following a deep clean over the weekend. The Civic Centre was closed on Friday due to a staff member testing positive for COVID-19 late last week. While the Customer Centre will re-open to the public from 9am on Monday, Council is encouraging customers to undertake business electronically wherever possible. Council is urging anyone who feels unwell to get tested and self-isolate.

20.01.2022 Fire permits suspended as weekend heatwave expected By Costa Haritos All fire permits in the Wingecarribee Shire have been suspended, as the Bureau of Meteorology forecasts heatwave conditions across the weekend.... Temperatures are expected to soar to 35 in Bowral on Saturday, with light wins becoming northwesterly, 20 to 25 km/h in the middle of the day, and then becoming lighter in the evening. Sunday will bring a slight chance of showers or thunderstorm in the afternoon. Winds north to northwesterly 20 to 30 km/h are also forecast, tending northwest to southwesterly 25 to 40 km/h in the morning before becoming lighter in the evening. The Southern Highlands Rural Fire Service (RFS) asked locals to check the fire danger rating over the weekend. Deputy Commissioner at NSW RFS, Peter McKechnie said the conditions are dangerous, and can spread very quickly. The winds, especially in grassland areas will make fire spread very quickly, and these wind changes as they move through will easily mean fires can change directions. Where it may be threatening one part now, easily with the wind change it will threaten the other side, he said. Mr McKechnie added that a total fire ban may come into effect, and urged locals to do their part for increased bushfire preparedness. We are particularly asking that landholders and farmers make sure that they’ve got firebreaks in place,’ he said.
