22.01.2022 Just another fight we have with city people.
19.01.2022 Nationals Leader John Barilaro says restrictions on guests in homes should be doubled to "40 or even 50" as a "Christmas bonus gift" for NSW residents.
19.01.2022 A recent enquiry to the Minister Taylor, from the Whitlam FEC Chair, in relation to fuel storage, has seen the below response from the ministers office. MC20-037328 Ms Maryke Archbold-Hession Chairman... Whitlam FEC 42 Alice Avenue BOWRAL NSW 2576 [email protected] Dear Ms Archbold-Hession Thank you for your recent correspondence to the Hon Angus Taylor MP, Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction. The Minister has asked me to respond on his behalf. Australia's fuel supply has proven to be highly reliable. Australia brings in fuel from over 70 countries, with no single country providing more than 20 per cent of our total petroleum imports. This means that, if there is a problem with fuel supply in a specific region, Australia can source fuel from other places. Even though Australia has not had a major fuel disruption in the past 40 years, the Australian Government is committed to continually enhancing fuel security for Australians. As you noted, Minister Taylor recently announced that the Government is taking advantage of current low oil prices to purchase oil to be stored in the United States’ Strategic Petroleum Reserve. The Minister also said that this purchase was the first part of a multi-layered framework to secure Australia’s fuel supplies through a domestically-centred approach. As a next step, on 15 June 2020 the Government opened a non-binding Request for Information (RFI) process to test market opportunities to potentially increase Australia’s fuel storage. The information gathered through the RFI process will help the Government better understand the current opportunities around Australia to increase domestic liquid fuel storage. It will also inform the Government in assessing the next steps to potentially increase our fuel storage capacity. Thank you for your interest in this important matter. Yours sincerely Penelope Sirault A/g General Manager Liquid Fuels and International 19 June 2020 See more

16.01.2022 FROM OUR STATE CHAIRMAN READ OUR MEDIA RELEASE HERE The decision to implement SEPP 44 was done with little or no consultation with us, with the wrong information being given to members of cabinet.... This is an issue of huge concern to regional communities, as it should be for people right across NSW, as it will have a severe impact on the production of food, fibre and timber staples we all rely on. The NSW Nationals want to see a thriving koala population in NSW, even a doubling of the population, but this SEPP does not achieve this. It is a blunt instrument to make city-centric lawmakers feel good about themselves. The NSW Nationals have always protected wildlife and do it sensibly, without over-regulation. Our proposed changes will support koalas, but the SEPP in its current form will not support our farmers. There has been overwhelming feedback to myself and our MPs about this matter, and it is now a real make or break situation for our party. This is about standing up for regional communities, addressing the real issues facing us, and making sure that decisions taken by city-based politicians do not unfairly impact regional people. Yours sincerely, Andrew Fraser NSW Nationals Chairman
15.01.2022 From the NSW Leader of the Nationals and Deputy Premier I would like to begin by thanking everyone for your support over the last four weeks and commend my NSW Nationals colleagues for sticking to their guns over what we knew to be a bad policy in the Koala SEPP. I would like to particularly thank the Deputy Leader of the Party Paul Toole for the amazing job he did steering the ship while I was on leave. ...Continue reading

01.01.2022 From our federal leader. This sitting period has been like no other. A socially-distanced chamber, compulsory mask-wearing throughout Parliament House and historic first-ever questions to Ministers during Question Time via video link. Though some members of our party room couldn’t get to Canberra, our strong representation of regional communities and advocacy for the issues important to you, have continued.... We have been strong on borders. The priority is the health and wellbeing of our communities however, these blanket border closures are hurting regional businesses and families who live in communities where there have been few cases, if any at all. Any border closures need to be considered, compassionate and applied with common sense. The agricultural code endorsed by National Cabinet on Friday will ensure free movement of agricultural workers and machinery, beginning in New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria immediately. Supporting our primary producers, we announced a three-month Australian Competition and Consumer Commission inquiry into the domestic supply chain, from the farm gate through to the major retailers, for perishable agricultural goods, including meat, eggs, seafood and dairy. There have been significant developments in water, led by Minister Keith Pitt, who announced our $234.2 million investment to have communities at the centre of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, delivering 11 initiatives which will keep the Basin Plan on track. This important reform focuses on community-led solutions with no additional water buybacks and merges responsibilities of the Inspector-General of the Murray-Darling and MDBA’s Office of Compliance to create an Inspector General of Water Compliance. We have extended JobKeeper and JobSeeker, the single largest economic support measure any Australian Government has ever undertaken. We also announced more than $563 million to extend support for the aged care sector’s response to COVID-19. This $1,435 per resident payment will assist those in residential and home care in regional Australia connect with their families safely, while also ensuring enhanced infection control capability, including through an on-site clinical lead. Thanks to the hard work of Regional Education Minister Andrew Gee, the higher education reform package will add $400 million to our investment in regional higher education increasing places for regional university students, expanding the Regional University Centre network and strengthening the research capacity of our regional universities. These changes will deliver lasting results for regional universities, students and communities. Your Nationals’ team is ensuring regional Australia is at the forefront of Government decision making. You’ve got a voice in us. The Nationals in Government will continue to advocate strongly for and on behalf of our regional communities. Yours sincerely, Michael McCormack Deputy Prime Minister Leader of The Nationals
