12.01.2022 Virginia Lloyd will be discussing her latest novel, Girls at the Piano, at the 2018 SHWF, on Saturday 21st July. Other piano-playing heroines in novels that come to mind are: Rachel Vinrace in Virginia Woolf’s The Voyage Out, Maggie Tulliver in George Eliot’s The Mill on the Floss, and Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre. The works of Jane Austen are also full of girls at the piano: Elizabeth and Mary Bennett, Jane Fairfax, Marianne Dashwood, Anne Elliot. For program details and bookings go to shwf.com.au
