So rather than wishing you all a prosperous new year I would like to wish you a joyful and caring new year. be safe in 2021. Steve See more

18.01.2022 Hi everyone, School holidays are over and some level of normality may be returning to our children's lives. To that end, although I cannot yet offer face to face classes I am still offering online classes via Zoom for our young members. These are held every Monday and Wednesday from 5pm till 5.55pm and has been received well by the current group of participants. I appreciate that online teaching of Taekwon-Do is not as effective as face to face, but it is currently the only o...ption available, I hope that this may change sometime in the near future but for the moment if you wish your child to continue to gain the benefits that Taekwon-Do clearly offers then this is a good alternative given the circumstances. I have had some parents dismiss this option without even giving it a try, so I am happy to offer a couple of classes without cost (and indeed have not charged any child for any class during the holidays) so you can see what the classes are like. I note that Zoom has upgraded their software recently to zoom 5 and should you wish to join a class I recommend you download the latest version before joining the meeting or you will be asked to do so as you try to join the class. This can be found on the www.zoom.us site. I have sent a copy of this post with the link to the classes but if you did not get the e-mail please send me an e-mail or message on [email protected] or 0408990859 and I'll send you the link asap. Thanks again for your support, hopefully this e-mail will stimulate you to bring your children back to Taekwon-Do class. Regards See more

17.01.2022 Did a number of small tests yesterday for our SITF Kids classes to comply with covid 19 restrictions, but good standard even after half of the training being online. Well done everyone.

12.01.2022 Here is a great opportunity if your interested in doing a fitness training course at virtually no cost if youve been laid off. My good friend Master Muleta is offering this course that is funded by the government and would set people up for when we get out of this crisis. Highly recommended. https://globalfitness.edu.au/government-funded-fitness-tas/

10.01.2022 Hi everyone, Just a quick follow up to inform you about our online classes. So now that we are in the school holidays I have decided to suspend the SITF kids program (as is usual) for the moment and provide the following classes Youth program: Monday and Wednesday from 5pm-6pm ... (This program is now open to any child who wishes to participate including those in the SITF kids during the school holidays). Adult program: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday from 6pm-7.15pm This program is open to any student regardless of rank. Black belt program: Tuesday from 6pm-7-15pm This program is open to black belts only. I will adjust the online invitations for classes to reflect these changes. Grading: we had planned to hold a grading on May 3rd, but given the nature of the Covid 19 crisis, it has put the ability to hold the grading in peril. It has naturally affected the need for consistent training and instruction and as such many students who may have been ready to test may not feel confident in their skills to achieve success at a grading. There is also the issue of some aspects of the curriculum needing a partner that impacts on the ability to complete the test. I will endeavour to work out a solution to this problem if face to face training is not possible in the foreseeable future. I did, however, do a number of small tests for the children who continued their classes online at the end of the school term since these tests could be done without a partner and these went quite well with all candidates being successful. Fees: I am working on a mechanism to allow fee payment for classes during the lockdown that reflects the service being provided. My thanks to those who have continued to contribute to the school using the monthly direct debit system, this has allowed me to continue to develop the online classes and keep things ticking over and ensure the school can continue to provide a service. Thanks again to all my students (and parents) for your support during these difficult times. Please feel free to contact me should you need assistance. Taekwon, Master Steve Weston

03.01.2022 Hi everyone, I wanted to raise an issue that has occurred recently. Several parents have advised me that they were not going to bring their child to class because they had a "cold" and the child was not feeling well. I thank you for not bringing your child to class, this is the right thing to do. However, we must also now look at the advice of our health professionals who are saying that if someone has "cold like" symptoms such as a runny nose, itchy throat, fever or any kin...d of respiratory illness then they should be tested for Covid 19. This should be a straightforward procedure of contacting your GP (you can use telehealth) and asking for a referral to be tested at the Salamanca place centre. Once the test is completed the person should self isolate until they receive their result (usually given in 24-48 hours) and follow the appropriate protocol dependent on the result. Now we all know that the likelihood of the child having Covid 19 is at this point very low, and it is most likely that your child does just have a cold. But the risk is that if the child is infected then even after they "recover" (given that symptoms in children are usually mild) they will likely still be infectious. If they then attend a class, it is possible that others and myself could become infected. In my case this could be very serious, indeed one of my colleagues in the US of a similar age to myself just passed away as a result of developing Covid 19. So, my suggestion is that if your child is at all unwell with such symptoms, that you insist on getting your child tested, which although unpleasant and somewhat inconvenient, may actually stop the spread of the virus. If you have a problem with this suggestion please feel free to discuss it with me. Thank you for your attention to this matter, Regards, -- Master Steve Weston Chair of the Umpire and Tournament Committee, ITF HQ Master Instructor, Southern ITF Taekwon-Do Tel (+61) 0408990859 e-mail [email protected] See more
