25.01.2022 SAAF Mk IXE fuselage assembly is complete {without the Merlin or the E wing assemblies}
25.01.2022 Progress update: 40 Sqn SAAF Spitfire Mk IXe cam scheme, using a mix of Gunze Lacquers and Tamiya Acrylic. Note: This cam scheme is based on a wartime service aircraft from 1943 stationed in Italy and not from a museuem restoration.
24.01.2022 Fine details added to the Cat. Now for some parts painting.
24.01.2022 What can I say !, the crim [in the white hat] once again has rooted the system.
24.01.2022 Progress on the MPM B.Beaufighter, using the kit decals.
23.01.2022 Progress on the Mk Ic Beaufighter, depicting a 30 Sqn RAAF subject as A19-50, when based at Wards Strip P.N.G. from August 1942. This subject participated in the Battle of the Bismarck Sea.
23.01.2022 Two subjects given to the club, both are unfinished and complete. The F-117 has the exposed bomb bay and open canopy - needs completion. The LRDG Chev also needs to be completed. Where to put them if and when they see the finish line.
22.01.2022 Progress #2:- On the B.Beaufighter, of note here is that I filled the hole from the inside of the fuselage where it meets the wing root and this subject has the horizontal tail planes, I have also added the parts the kit leave off, these are either made from wire or Evergreen strips, such as the Port side Formation light and trim tab, the flare shut and emergency trailing antenia. Resin oil cooler inlets used on this subject.
22.01.2022 Needed to get some more supplies to continue with this Phantom monster and found these in the rack and added them to the other stuff I needed.
22.01.2022 Something else to complete: While waiting for paint to dry on the Cat, I started to clean up the Boston III.[I mean a lot of cleaning up as the conversion did not marry to the kit parts very well]. Its the old AMT/Italeri A20B/C Havoc kit converted back to a DB-7B as operated by the 22 Sqn RAAF
21.01.2022 Finally after so so long sitting on the Shelf of Doom, it was given its coat of DullcoteI and the masking has been removed. Note: The Blue shoulder harness is BLUE and it was fitted to this subject during its service life. This aircraft also has the AEAF bands.
20.01.2022 Progress on the Phantom F4EJ: After 5 days of adding all the stencils, fitting the crew seats now to mask and paint the canopy and add the few remaining small parts. Before moving onto the weapons pylons.
19.01.2022 This old Monogram kit was started over a year ago but was damaged {In a move}. I have painstakingly repaired and replaced the broken bits in the past few weeks. Some touch ups on a few detail parts still to go.
18.01.2022 Here endith the lesson.
17.01.2022 Persisting the best as possible with grenading decals, all decals forward of the intakes split in several places. Now to make up the pitot tube from Brass tube and wire Pic #2 shoes the grenaded decal..
16.01.2022 And the progress continues:- Panel lines highlighted all over and now ready for masking the nose anti-glare panel, radar cone {Note:- I painted the nose cone in Yellow Zinc primer - for the areas I wanted left exposed as clear panels}. Now for the underside White to be applied..
16.01.2022 Stalled projects from up to 2 years or more. 48 scale: PV-1 Ventura Mk II Ventura... PBY-5 Catalina 32 scale: P40e Kittyhawk Mk XVIe Spitfire
16.01.2022 The progress continues on the F4E/J Phantom II. The Light Grey / White scheme has bee applied and the masking removed, almost ready for the decals {2x sheets of them}, subject will replicate a 303rd Sqn 6th Air Wing of the JASDF stationed at Komatsu Air Base. Now to add all the fine detail bits and the weapons pylons.
15.01.2022 Another RAAF Mk VIII cockpit detail added to the Starboard sidewall and assembled ready to fit into the fuselage halves.
15.01.2022 Scratch built pitot tube cleaned up and repainted the nose cone. A few minor clean ups and the owner can take it back home.
13.01.2022 My next Spitfire project will be making this Mk IX version from the left over parts from either the Mk IXc and the Mk XVIe, as it will not be a true late production e wing version. Ill use the C Wing with the 4 x 20mm cannon. As another SAAF Spitfire.
10.01.2022 What I came home with after Ian and I went over to Daryl's shop, all 4 of these kits are for the RAAF Centenary build. What have I got myself into ?
10.01.2022 Making progress with the F4E/J. Need to add the Black band on the seat grab handles. Masked off the sections I will keep as clear on the nose cone.... Now to keep working on cleaning it up ready to paint..
08.01.2022 These 2 I got as my own present to me for my 70th. The B-17 I was offered at a good price {$200} and picked it up last night. The F4e/j Phantom II Ill build as an RAAF F4E.
08.01.2022 More progress on the SAAF Mk IXe of 1943.
08.01.2022 Commissioned to complete 2 aircraft subjects {1x 32 scale and the other in 72 scale} and this is how far the progress got too before landing on my desk. The F-104c is the Revell 32 scale intended as a RCAF subject. The MIG-29 is a Monogram 72 scale.... Before I do anything on either of these 2 birds, I have to fill a few gaps in odd places..
07.01.2022 Progress on the F4e/j Phantom II as of 20/7/2020. Filled the sink holes in the seat inserts before painting. The clear section I left on the nose cone. Had to paint part of the tail before assembly.... Intending to do this as a JASDF subject in the overall Grey / White scheme.
06.01.2022 This is Matts next vehicle, it has more leg room and an even bigger space to carry all those models.
06.01.2022 WIP on the DB-7b, converted from the Ex AMT / Italeri A20b/c kit
06.01.2022 Finished: JASDF Tamiya F4EJ Phantom II
03.01.2022 The F4EJ fast approaching the finish line.
03.01.2022 Calling this one finished {for the time being, - yet to fit the .30cal twin gun in the Eyeball Turret}. Added the scratch built Fishtails, realistic landing light lenses, shrouded nav lights Port and Starboard.
02.01.2022 Scratch built pitot tube fitted and CA glued into place, now to mask off the nose to fill and tapper the mounting point. Made from brass tube and wire.
02.01.2022 Progress on a P-38 Lightning
02.01.2022 A Hasegawa 48 scale Hurricane IIB in the AEAF livery. {Not many modellers put the AEAF Bands on any Hurriane Aircraff]. This was built some time ago but has only just had its tail wheel added. Next step is the Dullcoat
02.01.2022 This is what happens when asked to complete something that someone else started, this F-104g is a PITA, due to the decals crumbling up on contact.with water, they have to be several decades in age. On the other hand getting the canopy to sit was another issue. Cockpit tub [first stage prior to being installed] is from the Tamiya 32 scale F-4E/J kit that I am also doing and more pix on that later.
01.01.2022 This is the re-issued Tamiya kit in 35 scale of the Willys Jeep, built OOB several months ago and only just added the fine detail in the last few days. I have not put the jerry can on the back.
01.01.2022 I agree with this post. Before we get too hung up on blaming the state govt, or the federal govt, or China for our covid situation lets review some facts : 1. ...We had to bring in mandatory quarantining in hotels, because we couldnt trust people to stay home after returning from overseas. 2. We then had to bring in security, because we couldnt trust people to stay in those hotels. 3. We then had to bring in ADF, because we couldnt trust the security guards not to have sex with those in quarantine in the hotels. 4. We had to get police to door knock and check up on people, because we couldnt trust those who were meant to be self-isolating to actually stay at home. 5. We also have to have police and ADF reinforce the metropolitan melb zone and state borders, because we cant trust people to follow the restrictions. 6. We are now being asked to use masks, because we cannot trust people to social distance when they are in public. 7. Through it all, our supermarkets have had to introduce shopping restrictions because we couldnt trust people to not to take more than what they needed. So we can get as mad as we want at politicians or health officials for imposing restrictions, or the country where the virus originated ..... but essentially its our own fault that we find ourselves here. The restriction are a reflection of our society, ignorance and self indulgence. Too many people arent willing to think of others rather than just themselves. Selfishness and lack of empathy seems to be as much of a disease as covid itself. Copy and paste if you agree!
