24.01.2022 Today is the last day of August and MS Readathon Month! We have had a great time sharing the books that our staff and their families enjoy, whilst raising awareness for Multiple Sclerosis. Hopefully some of them have inspired you and your family.... Today's book is from our nurse Shannon's family - Billy’s Bucket by Kes Gray & Garry Parsons. 'This is a kids book that our whole family enjoys reading again and again. It is a funny exploration of a child’s imagination and respecting and listening to others.'

23.01.2022 Spring is the season where the weather warms, flowers begin to bloom and there’s an overall sense of new beginning in the air. Yet we all know that 2020 has and continues to be, a big year for people with asthma. So, as we spring into the season, take time this Asthma Week to take a breather. This Asthma Week is about YOU putting your health and wellbeing at the forefront, even for just a few minutes each day. Our Nurse Practitioner and Asthma Educator Jemma Mustey tells us more about this common condition.

23.01.2022 August is MS Readathon Month! By sharing the books that our staff and their families enjoy, the team at SRMG would like to increase awareness of Multiple Sclerosis and encourage everyone to read more. Today’s book is from our receptionist Pauline, who chose Modoc by Ralph Helfer.... ‘I loved this book as I have a passion for elephants, I have adopted an elephant through the Sheldrick Foundation, her name is Kilabasi. This book is a true story about an elephant that overcome so many obstacles to survive. Modoc was owned by a family in Europe and was sold to a Circus in the United States. On the way he survived a shipwreck and had some adventures in India. Eventually he was found and bought to America. After a circus fire he was being transported by train and was treated cruelly. He reacted badly and was then considered dangerous. He was chained up where children taunted him. After many years of searching for Modoc, his original young owner found him and they immediately recognised each other. It is true Elephants never forget. A beautiful story and well worth a read.' 19.01.2022 August is MS Readathon Month! By sharing the books that our staff and their families enjoy, the team at SRMG would like to increase awareness of Multiple Sclerosis and encourage everyone to read more. Today's book is Jon Roberts & Evan Wright's American Desperado from Dr Liz Tompkins.... 'I would not normally recommend a book like this to anyone but my 15 year old non-reading son picked this up in an airport bookshopand read solidly for 3 days! He loved it. It’s an autobiography about a man who went from army grunt to drug dealer to mafia hitman. Not great literature but turned out to be a hit. So it hasn’t changed my life but it has turned my son into a reader of sorts. If I had to pick a book I would always chose Pride and Prejudice. I read my 1980 edition at least once a year and it always remains fresh and enjoyable.' See more

01.01.2022 You may notice this month that some of your friendly neighbourhood SRMG docs are cultivating some interesting facial fittings. Movember has begun, which means it’s time to raise awareness about some men’s health issues, and today we’re focusing on Prostate Cancer. The words strike dread into even the heartiest men. Some because of the condition itself, but many because of the examination it brings to mind. Unfortunately, ignoring the risk is about the worst way to manage any health issue, so Dr Jared Coyne has written today's article to help wrap our heads around some facts.
