22.01.2022 We recently had a client come to our Rosebud clinic with a non-healing ulcer he'd had for over 6months. Upon assessing his wound I had suspicions that something was not quite right and further investigation confirmed that this bacteria was responsible for his ulcer. He is now receiving treatment and heading toward healing. However had this not been diagnosed the outcome could have been devastating. If you have a non healing ulceration, ensure you visit a wound specialist for a thorough assessment. http://www.theage.com.au//flesheating-buruli-ulcer-cases-s

22.01.2022 Venous Leg Ulcers are the most common type of Chronic Wound I see in my clinic. Many clients have endured ulcerations for over 6 months. With just 1 visit each week to our Complex Wound Service most of these heal within 6-8 weeks. Venous leg ulcers are caused when veins in the leg are damaged or not working properly. Watch our video below to find out more about venous leg ulcers. Remember - if you have any of the wound warning signs of fluid, smell, pain or a wound not h...ealing - make sure you go and get it checked by a health care professional. 21.01.2022 Lets Talk About Wounds - Case Study! Everyone loves a case study to see what can happen in real people and in real life! Earlier this week on Monday, a new client presented with a leg ulcer which developed 8 months ago. She had tried everything she could to heal the area - multiple doctors visits, tried different dressings but the ulcer persisted and gradually increased in size. We identified that the underlying factor impacting upon her healing was her circulation - in p...articular her veins. Compression Bandaging and a simple dressing was applied on Monday and she returned yesterday. We utilise a specialist Wound Imaging Camera which accurately takes photos and measures wound size and compares wound progress from visit to visit. In just 2 days of treatment, this lady's wound has reduced in size by 18.4% - thats nearly 20% smaller in just 48 hours! And needless to say her hope and confidence that her wound can heal is restored! See a Wound Specialist - Dont suffer in Silence! (*image filtered)

20.01.2022 Lets Talk about Wounds! I guess the first thing we need to know if we are going to talk about them is What exactly is a Wound? In its most simple terms, a wound is any damage or break in the skin. It’s as simple as that! Fortunately, the human body is remarkably and magnificently equipped to heal so on most occasions a wound will heal quickly. We call these "Acute Wounds".... There are however times that a wound does not seem to follow the path of normal healing. These wounds are called Chronic Wounds. A Chronic Wound may continue to enlarge, be slow to heal or continually breakdown after healing occurs. In these cases, the body’s normal wound healing process falters and the wound fails to heal or reoccurs for many weeks, months and years. The good news is that most Chronic Wounds can heal. They require care from clinicians with specialised training and expertise in Chronic Wound Management. Treatment aims to identify and treat the underlying problems that have stopped the normal healing process. It is only when this happens that wound healing can occur. https://www.activeonegroup.com/complex-wound-service/
