Injuries are often the result of inadequate training. This is especially relevant this year as most kids haven't been as active as usual, and they've lost a bit of fitness. 24.01.2022 During the past few weeks, like many other businesses, weve scaled back our services to ensure the safety of our staff and patients. At this stage, all three physios are working, but only one is rostered at any time. There are appointments available from Monday to Saturday by calling our clinic or via health engine. We are still working hard to ensure our rooms are cleaned thoroughly between patients and you will be directed straight through to our treatment rooms where possible, to ensure we adhere to social distancing requirements. Strict hand hygiene for everyone entering the practice is still in place and remember, if you feel unwell in any way, please reschedule your appointment for another time. 22.01.2022 It is our pleasure to introduce you to the newest member of our Physio team! Henrietta Ireland is a senior Physiotherapist with 27 years experience. Originally qualifying in South Africa, she has 10 years working experience in New Zealand and has been practicing in Western Australia since 2009. As a competing triathlete, she has a special interest in sports injuries and musculoskeletal problems. Her practice includes dry needle techniques, manual therapy, exercise and postura...l retraining. Also a qualified Physio Bike Fit practitioner, Henrietta has an interest in adjusting bike fits, or fine tuning existing settings. After recently gaining accreditation as a BradCliff breathing disorder practitioner, Henrietta is enthusiastic about teaching airway clearance, breathing techniques and assisting asthmatics, athletes and people suffering from anxiety, to improve their breathing, for better living. 21.01.2022 REAL-TIME ULTRASOUND IMAGING COMMONLY KNOWN AS YOUR "CORE", the stabilising muscles of the lumbar spine and pelvis include the pelvic floor, transversus abdomin...is (the deepest abdominal muscle) and multifidus (a lower back muscle). Together they form a corset to support and protect your spine, by automatically switching on during activity or movement. Following injury to the lower back, chronic lower back pain or pregnancy, these muscles may become inhibited or switched off. Without specific strengthening exercises to reactivate these muscles, recovery can be poor and may lead to recurrent back pain, pelvic pain or incontinence in both males and females. Despite our best intentions, often we work the outer abdominal muscles during core strengthening exercises, without realising our inner core is inactive. Our physiotherapists use Real-Time Ultrasound Imaging to observe and restore function, by specifically retraining these deep muscles. You can see the muscles working as you perform the exercises, increasing your awareness of the correct action to be performed. See more

08.01.2022 Introducing Rob Harper, who joined our physio team in October last year. Rob has a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, as well as a Diploma of Health Science -Massage. He has also completed a Masters degree in Clinical Physiotherapy, majoring in sport. Rob was previously head trainer for the Fremantle Dockers, a position he held for several years before leaving to study. He is a life member of Cottesloe Rugby Union Club and City Beach Surf Club, winning numerous awards in both club...s. Hes a keen runner, competing in marathons and local annual races and has trekked to Everest Base Camp, Machu Picchu and many other locations around the world. Rob has also volunteered his services with Equal Health who provide medical services to the disadvantaged people of Tamil Nadu in Southern India. He loves the opportunity to help others be their best and lead active, exciting, challenging, fulfilling personal, family and team lives. And above all of this, hes a great guy!! 06.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE ############## Additional to all recommended hygiene and infection control standards that our clinic is implementing ie... -constant surface cleaning and hand washing, -removal of all waiting area reading material, -provision of hand sanitiser, -minimisation of linen use, we are also transitioning our scheduling to help minimise person to person contact in the following ways. 1. The clinic will soon be operating with only 1 physio working at any given time. 2. Appointment times will be staggered to help avoid patient overlap in the waiting area and to further ensure thorough cleaning time between patients. 3. Patients are encouraged to bring their own clean towel for use during treatment. Please note that these measures are constantly evolving and we will continue to modify our response to reflect any changes. Please look after yourselves and each other!
