23.01.2022 Good afternoon All. We hope this post finds you safe and well, after a festive season and for that matter, a year, with a difference. Following up on some email...s and queries, please note SV will be posting more information in regards to 2021 Country Long over the next week or so, after consultation with appropriate stakeholders. Prior to Christmas, our planning and expectations were a maximum of 1000 at the event. Swimmers, Coaches and Technical Officials/organising personnel(limited) a priority, then Team Manager numbers would be advised on swimmer entries per Club. There will be no specific spectator seating and once all of the above are determined, we will then look at parental entry per club. Any parents permitted would be required to keep to their own club area, with limited movement allowed. As you are aware, this covid situation seems to be changing by the day but know the safety of All involved is paramount. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Gippsland Swimming Inc. 20.01.2022 Our Team Riding For Cancer Awareness Head SGB Swimming Coach, Dylan Muir and National Squad swimmer, Luke Muir are aiming to ride 950Km between them in the Great Cycle Challenge to raise funds and awareness for kids' cancer - a cause super close to our SGB hearts at this time as two of our swimmers, Cooper and Trinity, battle this dreadful disease. When interviewed by the South Gippsland Sentinel-Times Dylan pointed out just how much time squad swimmers and their coach... spend together and the least he could do is get on a bike and ride a few kilometres to help raise funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute in their efforts to finding a cure for childhood cancer. He went on to say, "This year has been tough, and it is even tougher to see two young swimmers who I have coached for the past five years have their lives flipped upside down as they fight against cancer. When you add up the seven-plus training sessions each week ranging from 2-3 hours, the weekend competitions, multiple championship meets through the year and around the country, together we ride the highs and lows, and figure out how we are going to take the next step forward, Dylan said. We really appreciate the SGST for bringing awareness to Dylan and Luke's fundraising efforts and encourage you all to make a donation to help them cycle over the line. Any donation no matter how large or small is appreciated. Imagine if we could get them to their goal by the end of the week?! You can show your support here by donating on each of their 'Great Cycle Challenge Australia' pages here https://greatcyclechallenge.com.au/Riders/DylanMuir https://greatcyclechallenge.com.au/Riders/LukeMuir

12.01.2022 CATE CAMPBELL'S VIRTUAL SWIM CLINICS Swimming Victoria would like to extend an invitation to our swimming community to join Olympic Gold medallist and World... Champion Cate Campbell for a free virtual swim clinic. Like all of us, Cate’s 2020 has not turned out how she expected and has had to adapt with the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Feeling for her friends and the swimming community in Victoria, Cate hopes to help Victorians get through the final stages of lockdown and focus on the transition back into training. Taking place on Tuesday 8 September, the clinics will run across two sessions; 4pm for swimmers aged 8-13 years and 5.15pm for swimmers aged 14-18+ years. These one hour clinics will involve a presentation from Cate as she shares her swimming journey and how covid-19 has affected her 2020. Cate will offer her top tricks on surviving lock down, getting back into training and how to stay motivated. The sessions will then move into a 20 minute core and stretching work out, tailored to each age group and finish off with some Q&A’s from the group. Registration is essential and there will be an opportunity to submit your questions to Cate prior to the clinic. Register via the links below. Clinic #1 Tuesday 8 September 4:00-5:00pm, 8-13 years: bit.ly/2DlttlR Clinic #2 Tuesday 8 September 5:15-6:15pm, 14-18+ years: bit.ly/3hQrYuV
